questions about partial harvest

some of my plants are nearing the end but only the top half of the plants buds are fully mature, heard about partial harvest but had a few questions before i go ahead with it

1. is it ok to cut the main stem at the top to harvest main cola etc.. ?

2. on some of the longer branches is it ok to partially cut the mature section off leaving the bottom to carry on flowering?

3. if there any places that i should or shouldnt cut so i do not to stress the plant in anyway?

The buds nearest the light always ripen first mate.
Removing the top buds/stems is fine and helps the lower buds mature a bit more.
