Root Riot's do exactly what they say on the tin and recommend these to EVERYONE who is taking clones.

6 of my girls ended up with roots like this:

(oddly enough these 6 were just randomly scattered about so can't work out why those 6 had particularly huge roots)

wow that's pretty good! Where do you get them? I've seen a few people recommending them. Got two clones planted right now, first attempt, just in soil. How long does it normally take till they start growing.. (I can't see if any roots are forming)

You should be able to get then from Greens Horticulture. Buy the complete kit with clonex and a scalple as you get a nifty little tray to stand them in. Then buy them in bulk in a bag of 100!
They really are an excellent product.

Yup, i got the kit with the clonex from greens as it works out cheaper getting the kit in the beginning and i have just ordered a 100 bag *laughs*
For my first attempt with clones and a 100% success rate you just can't go wrong.

How long did it take for it to grow that big?

Just over 3 weeks Kaya, and only 6 were that mega long the rest had stumpy healthy roots...
All i did was snip off the WW mum and make the slice on the clone a little rough to encourage root growth, dip in the clonex and then shove in the root riot cubes, had to water them twice a week and really they should have been repotted before now but they have had to wait I'm afraid :)

Well i watered the root riots after to about a nails depth of water in the bottom of the tray and thats all I did Kaya :D
( i had to rewater to that depth about 5 days later)

I never actually water mine, just spray them to keep them moist.

They are excellent for cuttings; ie in a propagator with a humid environment, but if you use them to start seeds they dry out far too quickly in my -admittedly limited- experience.

I didnt use a propagator *ponder* me and propagators don't mix at all... they killed my first ever seedlings *sniffle*

I have trouble keeping humidity up without a propagator and the Root Riot dries out fast so I've decided that I prefer to sow seeds into pots or rockwool :D

Will probably use rockwool with the next lot so I can dip the roots in some impossible to spell fungi :)

My first batch of seeds (powerplant). I soaked them for 30mins in canna rhizotinic in an eggcup, then put them into rockwool, which was watered beforehand. Clonex was added after 48 hours. All 10 germinated with good long roots. I used Rhizotonic in the initial neutrient mixture too when they went into the nft tank in the main grow room.

just my 2 cents.

PILGRIM, JUST WONDERING WHY YOU USED CLONEX WHEN GROWING FROM SEED, I THOUGHT CLONEX WAS USED TO TRANSFORM STEM CELLS INTO ROOT CELLS? doesnt make sense to me?

Yup, note to self..... do not typeth after heavy toketh! Got my message the wrong way around! getting my 'ex' s mixed up as my brain clearly was at the time of typing!
sorry all.

Actually, i was pondering on getting an electric propogator for seeds, but after reading previous posts they seem to be more trouble than they're worth. Is this true?
