Sexing Tips Please

Hi everyone,i have a bit of a problem my 33 day old plants are still in the veg stage and starting to show sex out of ten plants i confirmed one male gauranteed today hes outta there,the problem is that they are in 6"pots and i really need to pot them on as they are needing watered every 2days and showing lots at the bottom of the pots.how long do you think till the rest show and will it be cool to keep them in the little pots for a few more days am a bit worried that i will over fertilise as they need water very regularly.thanks weed heed

If I were you, I'd just throw them in bigger pots. What's the volume of your pots?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that if you just transplant into bigger pots and feed water for a week or two you won't risk nute burning at all...if anything you're more likely to build up salts in the smaller pots.

I was also planning on keeping mine in smaller pots (3.65L), but they are just much happier and greener in the bigger (like 6L) pots. I wanted to conserve soil, especially if they turned out to be boys, but in the end, what's 2L of soil here and there?

hi yavana they will be going in ten litre pots its just a hassle doing guys if i dont need to i have to pot up round the back of the cottage but there are people about we have an access road as am in a row of 20 farmers cottages wouldnt like to upset or have the neighbours spying the plants.cheers weed heed.p.s am not worried about over fertilising in the big pots its the wee pots am worried about but theve had 4 feeds previously an one water today so i might get a couple more days before i need to worry and hopefully my boys will have their balls out by then:leaf:.cheers weed heed

They should show anyday now but if they get to potbound they will slow down on showing. So it is a juggling game really if they will show before out growing those pot's. Good luck with it mate. :weed:

They should show around week 4 to 6 of 18/6 lighting.

thanks lkdj,they are all starting showing but there too wee to tell really what they are for me yet ive been in the bits of the forum eplaining sexing(great threads)but as yet i cannae tell some look like theve got wee balls but not on stalks the male i found you could see the wee stalks the balls were on hopefully i can tell soon as i cant wait to get them flowering a bit over excited as its my first grow.thanks a lot weed heed

You can keep them in there until you are sure they are males and aslong as the male flowers don't open up you will be ok but it is best to get them out as soon as you know they are males.

Tips on Sexing:
Roll her in flour and look for the wet spot-oops,wrong forum-
Male flowers will always have a stalk while the Femmes appear to grow directly from the node and resemble an elongated drop, with the fat end at the node and a pair of hairs growing from the pointed top. New vegetation, in it's earliest stages, can resemble male flowers, so wait until you're certain!

Sometimes not being sure is good- the males tend to show quickly, so if you have to wait a while it may be good news. I've been growing for yrs and still guess wrong when I try to decide early- now I always wait to see how far off my guesses were before tossing anything.

thanks boys i guess its a bit of a waiting game,am back to work tomorrow been off on holiday all last week so ive been in and out of the room like a blue arsed fly watching the babies so it will give them a bit more time to develop now am not looking 24/7.cheers lkdj and barrelhse your helps been great.allt he best weed heed
