I have been lent a air cooled 6oowatt hps light and carbon filter is the light too powerful for an area 1800 wide 800 deep and 2000 high?
sounds about right mate, alot would probably have abit more on that. aslong as you got the fans to handle it
peace
I wish people still used feet and inches. lol.
Yes mate that light should be fine. Why not set it all up in your grow space, switch it on for an hour or two and see what temps you get before adding your plants. If you extract well and have a good supply of fresh air going into the space, you should be fine. :)

thanks for the help chaps, I am thinking of setting up in a shed. Are the copper choppers a real threat or is that an urban myth?

Insulate the shed well and you might be OK - flir is a real threat and will help them get a warrent to bust you.

I'm going to insulate the shed with 2 inch kingspan so should be ok, but what about the exhaust air, how warm is that?
warm enough for flir buddy, in a shed that could be a problem, you can't just extract it outside through a vent, it will be a hotspot to them, its gotta be spread around and thats a bit easier in a house, there is a thread here somewhere about a grow room in a shed, someone might be able to point it out :stoned-smilie:
good ulck with your grow...

Even if you vent the hot air through the floor under the shed so it can spread out a 600W will kick out enough heat to be noticable on flir - you could reduce the risk by running it during the day only (when it starts getting warmer outside).
I ran a 250W CFL in my shed and it was enough to raise the temps in the shed enough to cause condensation on the wndows - didn't melt any snow off the insulated roof though and I used 50mm kingspan covered with 6mm ply to hold it in place.
