View Full Version : newbie help....what have i done or not done???
hi i am new to growing and this is my first proper attempt...i am growing in a 80x80x160cm grow tent(silver lined)...i am using a 250w cfl bulb...i have 2 fans an extractor and one that is circulating air in the tent...all seemed to be going fine...i put them into flower 4 weeks ago then the past couple of days 2 of the plants appear to be dying...i have attached pics for you to see what i mean.
also none of the plants dont appear to be producing buds yet just loads of white hairs but no actual bud to them....any help would be so appreciated...thanks in advance!
all are female they are feminized seeds.

Back one and front right dont look too bad tbh.
Front left and back right look like over fert, but could also be a potassium lockout caused by PH. Post more info as per help list.

hey with regards to your white hairs you will fined that the buds will start to swell and fill out the later you get into flowering

my temp is 70--80 most of the day long,my plants are in soil
pot size is 7inch,
it hasnt been repotted
humidity:..not sure on this
as for nutes i only used mircale growand now i have stopped
my light is a 250 w cfl
ph i have no idea to ...how do i check this ...i was watering my plants every 2 days...tbh am scared to water them now ,just incase i over waterd them, or sumit
as you can tell i am new to this...
all 4 of my plants was looking great...than in under 24 hours 2 of them went like that....its a bit upsetting

sorry forgot to say ...the plants are..2x swiss chesses 1x ak47 and 1x himalayan gold

There's no yellowing just the edges and the tips of the leaves.
When was the last time you fed them? How much did you use?
They could very well be pot bound without any repotting. Its also better to water them so you get a 10% run off.
If you can I would repot them, bit of a shit 4 weeks into flower, but they will thank you for it. You'll also be able to see how wet they actually are. They don't like having soggy feet.
Ph you check with a soil test kit or a digital meter.

i waterd them and the next day 2 of them looked like that....
i have allwas given them the same amount of water every time...
half a liter of water every 2 or 3 days ..
am looking on ebay for a ph kit as i have never tested this...
when looking at the botton of my pots i do see the roots just starting to come through the bottom of the pots little holes....i have lost a lot of leafs they just dropped of..and i took a lot of dead leaves of ..
this all happened over nite...just after the last watering
10% run off is when you water them you get water coming out the bottom, this is the run off. If you don't water thoroughly then dry spots can develop in the soil.
If you've not checked the PH all the way through then there can't be a lot wrong with your water, so thats probably not an issue. But its always nice to know that what water is going in is correct.
When was the last time you fed them? How often do you feed them?
Half a litre water aint enough for those, they want at least 1-2 depending when it comes out of the bottom of pot, then u stop, dont use miracle grow it is well known to not be ph specific for canna plants and causes lockouts and other problems associated with ph.:)
ok am going repot in the morning ...what size pot do u recommend please......and do u think i should repot the others to or just the ill ones
do u think they will pull through and still give me good buds....they do look a little rough...

i was only puttin a cap full of mircale grow in with 1 litre of water and shareing it out with 4 plants....
so repot them and water them more ?

just a thought. how close is your light as i had problems with it being to close and you said that you tent is only 1.6 meter tall and they all look like there about 1m tall i could be wrong but the light being to close will hurt your babies and dry them out. they dont look like you have over nuted them but i would deffo go for some canna grow terra florra or somthing thats for soil to hel with flowwering thats what i use.
you water as much as the plant needs.
Best way to check is to pick up the pot and see how heavy it is. When its dry it will be a lot lilghter.
They look thirsty to me and tbh i wouldnt have bothered repotting when in flower.
light is about 15 cm away its only a 250 cfl...i dont think it is the light as the other plants are ok ...when i repotted them ,the roots where packed..

at a guess 7" pots r to small they should b in bigger pots,look at the drainage holes and see how much root there is
hi mate .. i repotted them all ..(as there was roots coming tho them all) the good to are doing so well now ,looking really nice...............i will take a few photos to update you all :)
there other 2 .,well i dont think they are going to make it...but i have learnt.
i have 1 really nice looking swiss chesse and 1 really nice looking Himalaya Gold...
They are hardy plants these weeds and they can usually be rescued from most things, don't give up yet and get those pictures up
