Low stress training.. search in the thc search theres some guides..
failing that.. search in google for "lst guide"
in short, your tieing the plant down where needed to create a even canopy
heres a pic from my first attempt at lst'in

Use string and stick a few holes at the top of pots
You make the branches grow what way you want them to. You can create a even canopy and keep them low
Why would you want to scrog an auto ? you flip 12/12 when approx 70% of the screen is filled.why would you want to race against the genetic clock with an auto when you can take your time and flip the time when it is good and ready with regular seeds ?

i wish someone had bothered to tell me that when i started my current auto scrog grow & diary.....:banghead:
i would agree, scrogging autos wont give you as big a yield as LST - i've just tried both (see diaries...) , & would say the scrogs are going to yield even less than the LST'd autos..... :(

When using LST how long would you recommend keeping them tied down for?

Depends on which part of the plant is being tied down, and also whether or not it needs it after a certain time. Some stalks will train and stay put once released (the main stem for example) but others need constant pulling to keep them out of the way of other branches that want light.
You don't need to release them at all actually as they'll continue to grow with their restraints. :)
