is sog and scrog the same thing?

as above i no scrog is basicly a plastice mash 2"x2" squares to keep the leaves below and the buds above, but is sog the same thing? if so why 2 dif names? lol

SOG = sea of green,,,,a room thats weed as far as the eye can see
SCROG = screen over green,,,,weed growing through a screen for easier maintanence/control
