Hi all, my second grow (cheese) is coming along nicely and is ready ( i think) this weekend.
A friend of mine who has grown for a long time looked at the plants and reckons another week would be ok.

However the last two mornings i have checked the ec and the ph, and on both occassions they have both changed dramatically fron the usual ph of around 5.5 and ec of 1.8/2.2; the new readings are ph 4.4 and ec of 2.8 !!!

I have of course added water to dilute the solution on both occassions but the following day the readings have changed.

I know a photo would help but i have trouble resizing them at the mo, but i can say that they have been under 400w sodium for 8 weeks this Saturday, the edges of the big leaves are starting to go brown, and the small seed pods are beginning to form (NO SEEDS YET, phew). Smaller leaves at the base of the 8 plants have died off.

should i get the beauties out now and start chopping?

all help much appreciated.

chris.

Are they on a recycling nutrient system?
Is your PH meter and EC meter calibrated/clean?

the plants are in a nft 604 tank, and i do a tank change every sunday.

monday morning and the ph and ec are stable but on wednesday they were totally different 4.4 ph 3.2 ec. I added water and the readings returned to a stable level, then this morning, back to bad readings!

the meters are cleaned, and tank change is regular as clockwork.

using ionic bloom and boost when i do the tank change and i keep meddling with the plants to a minimum. I can't help thinking that if the ec and ph keeps going haywire, i should get the plants out quickly before any damage is done. The main buds at the top of the olants are about 5-6 inches long so it's not a bad yield if i cut.

Still, need to know if these readings do indicate the plants have reached chop time.
