Chaps (and chapettes),
Does anyone have any info regarding the effects on cannabis and aiding muscle recovery from intensive exercise? Does it have any effect or is it a (pretty enjoyable) pain killer. Im going to experiment this weekend, as I did a 10 miler last night, so the muscle pain should kick in tomorrow morning. My plan is to have a smoke tonight, then do another 10 miler on saturday morning and then repeat the process on monday, without the smoke. Its a pretty poor experiement, in terms of quality so would be nice to ehar of any similar experiences or research you pros may have come across.

2 years ago i severely dislocated my shoulder, i tore muscle , ligaments and nerves in the process the pain was excruciating. i was given 1g paracetamol tablets to take 4 times a day but they hardly worked and had me sweating prefusley and not sleeping. i found than cannabis was the only effective pain relief that allowed me to do my physiotherapy exercises and let me sleep through the pain. not sure if it helped the muscle recover any quicker but it definatley worked for me. i asked my physio his opinion but usin herb as a pain killer and he said in his opinion there was no better non addictive pain killer known to man and to just bin the tablets and keep on using it. now my shoulder is as good as new. . .

cheers gangaman. I'm using creatine to aide recovery and have used that for a long time to speed up recovery. 1g of paracetomol sounds nasty, I'm guessing you'd be pissing blood after a few months of that, good that you ditched it.

I thought I'd try this, but the other way round and have a smoke before going for a run....
Interestingly, my muscles did not ache at all - then I realised, I forgot to do the running part afterwards.

lol, yeah thats the problem "well, I do need to get a few miles in tonight but I could stay at home and eat jaffa cakes and watch family guy.
I dont see how it would aid muscle recovery, maybe it would help with the pain but I wouldnt have thought it would speed it up.
I know its not very good for muscle growth, at least I was told this on a body building forum I am a member of. Something to do with increased oestregen.
Smoking it will decrease your cardiovascular fitness...as in your V02max.

Sadly so, but I'm willing to sacrifice that for the occassional bit of weed.
Dont think weed makes any difference wi recovery, I trained fer 10 years bodybuilding and I also heard cannabis increases oestrogen which aint good, I find swimming straight after training works best, that and taking in proper nutrition immediately after exercise.

lmfao i liked that lol.:headbang:
Hi there, I have found that 1000mg of vit C does wonders when i weight train. Also occasionally i train my calves and i literally cannot walk up right for about 5 days afterwards, unless I take rustox which is a form of poison derived from nuts. Homeopathic quantities eliminate muscle pain.
