View Full Version : 2 weeks, no roots

So basically no amount of google searches is really helping me with this one. I got 7 babies in a prop tray, about 1.5metres away from a 600w light, got the tray at 85% humidity and around 30degrees, 18/6 light cycle.

As the title says, theyve been in there for 2 weeks today, 90% of guides tell me 3/14 days is the normal time period for roots to start showing. Should i just be more patient?

The strain is unknown and i give them a light misting 2x a day, the leaves on a few are just starting to yellow.

Any input is appreciated, thanks.

The leaves begining to yellow is usualy a sign that they are about to root. The cutting is using the stored food in the leaves to start producing new roots.
few more days mate.

May I ask why your rooting clones with a 600W light? A CFL would do the job and be cheaper.

600W is a little overkill I would say.

i allways work with 24 hour light with clones , i would,nt use the 600w either , 100w is more than enough , you need to force them roots

Quit misting them. Roots develop and search for water, if you keep misting them, they wont root. In hydro you shouldnt mist at all, and in dirt, or artificial mediums, you should only mist your dome, not the plant. The yellow leaves can also be from too much water. h

they are around 1.5 metres away from the 600w light in the corner of my vegging room at the moment, thats the only reason there in with a 600. Investing in a cfl in the very near future.

As for over misting, ill stop misting them for a couple of days and just mist the dome for humidity, thanks for the help as always

Clones do not require strong light at first. I have good success with just placing the dome by a window (not in direct sunlight) or just on a table with nothing but a normal light on. like hemivette said, you mist to keep the humidity up and let the roots stretch to find water. Oh yeah I also use a clone fert.

THank you, from taking cuttings to rooting, How long does it take when placing the dome by the window mate? Whats the normal temperature you can keep them at too? Only asking about temperature because i read that 30degrees or so is perfect for the cuttings however right by the windows is kinda cold here (single glazing)

As i mentioned before im going to stop misting them, thanks for the help mate looking forward to a reply

update: the "not misting the leaves" thing worked lol. Got 4/7 bursting with roots now and the others showing promising signs, thanks to everyone for the help

Just a quick heads up. You say thats a dedicated vegging room. And you have a 600 hps in there? Change that shit to a 600 Metal Halide at once dude, you'll get tighter internodes and better growth. MH for veg, HPS for flower. I know Dual spec hps yeah, but MH still be better. Will prob work with your ballast too (check with where you bought it to be sure) so all you need is the bulb, £25 roughly for much better vegging growth. Less stretch too
