Howdee all. Back growing with a bang after a five year absence. Currently doing 4 x Mandala #1, 5 x Mandala Safari mix, 3 x Nirvana AK48 and 2 x Nirvana Top 44. 600w growlux hps. Usual b&q compost

Modus operandi - keep it simple with minimum danger, expense and time to keep the missus on board. Like the cut of Mike Mandala's strains and his philosophy. But if they turn out shite, I'll let you know. So far so good. All germed fine and all did early veg ok in the conservatory.

Nirvanas' were a bit more flaky. While they all germed ok, I lost a T44 for no apparent reason. AK48s also seemed to suffer a bit of early nute burn. All good now though at 21 days veg and have just switched to 12/12. (Early crop with low impact plants is essential to keep herself onside).

Other info - growroom is in the garage. Garage is light sealed. 9" fan blowing 15 mins an hour. Minimal nutes and watering. PH=7. Water EC varies, but seems to be ok at average around .3. Temps - no probs. Will use b&q general fert with mg maybe once, and then switch to hesi bloom. Only issue I have is loss of light. 600w costs a lot more to run these days!

Anyway, thanks for reading. I'll reciprocate with grow updates and smoke reports.

Cheers,
Bajer

High & welcome to THCTalk Bajer.

Finished my last grow of Nirvana AK48 @ a month ago & those babies are good, mine finished in almost exactly 7 weeks once in flower, it's a great smoke. and yer right they are very light feeders so dont overdo those nutes !

As it happens my next grow diary will be featuring a couple of Mandala strains : HASHBERRY & SATORI ... if you've not had the pleasure of either of these i can tell you they're awesome strains. i was lucky enough to sample both earlier this year from our very own WTL's grow .. :Nice:

They will be joined by some Fat russians from Crazy X seeds, The breeder of this excellent strain is marijuanamat & he regularly posts on this forum so it's great if you want tips direct from the man himself .. if you've not tried his genetics i'd recommend you take a look ...

Good luck with yer Grow Dude ... keep us posted

Hello dude, welcome to THCtalk.

Funny you should say about the AK48, that was my first grow, nute burned them to fuck, but they still turned out great. At the time they were the best value for money on the market untill Crazy X seeds put in a appearance.

Like Midnight said I grew some Hashberry and Satori for my last grow and was very very happy with the end results, the Hashberry didnt streach as much as the Satori and could handle nutes better.

Looking forward to you next grow dude.

Hey Sweets - thanks for the welcome. Not too sure about the about ak48 - as you'll read later. Apologies for the delay in replying to you all. Hectic work and family. Night shift dealing with our American cousins - #aaarrrgh. But it's nice to sit down now and chill and post

Ta dude. Still a bit wary of the ak48 and nirvana. Leaving my main thoughts til the end of this post. But I hear ya about Mats' beans. They're on my list. But you know how it is - daughter going back to school soon - books, uniforms etc. That's where the money goes this month.

Thanks Slim. Don't know about the diary. I'd love to. But as they say - time is the new money. Herself is just about onboard, but if I'm really struggling for time, she won't take too kindly to me taking extra minutes to take photos etc. She's bang on and is allowing me this - I don't want to push it. I'll defo grab a few photos, but don't know if it will warrant a full blown diary.

Right - nuff said. That wore me out. In the absence of a full diary, I'll just give you all a bit of an update.

At the moment I have mixed feelings about the Nirvana strains. They seem a bit mutanty (if there's such a word). I'm loving Mandala's stuff. I chose the strains I did for a cheap staggered crop (hence the Top44 and the Mandala safari mix). Didn't care if I lost them as I have very little budget. Reckoned I would start them in the conservatory with a few outside when the weather was nice etc. and bring some of them into the yet to be planned/built growroom garage.

Soon realised that for peace at home they would all have to be brought inside to the garage. No prob. I have the brightness and the blackout. Plans for fancy carbon filters and grow tents will have to wait (no problem - garage is well ventilated and odour won't be an issue for a while).

Have them all on 12/12 now after about 3 weeks veg in the conservatory/outdoors. I know it's all a bit amateur hour at the moment, but bear with me. If I introduced a heavy duty grow room from the get go - it would be shut down by now. So I have a 600w hps over 15 plants, desperately hoping they'll sex soon so I can reduce it to 8. It's a real juggling act.

Oh, btw, made good use of the old 4 man tent. Blacked out the window of the garage with the main part of the tent and and used the ground sheet under the plants - it's nice and silvery. Plants are only sharing the garage with two guinea pigs (anyone know anything about using their droppings as ferts? Reckon it's hot - but their dropings just won't compost down. Love to use them though).

So where are we - oh yeah, on an ever changing dark cycle. Today's temps in Ireland scared the shit out of me. Low. Had them on 12/12 with the 12 hour light kicking off at 12 midday. I had my reasons. Knowing that I'd have to shift. So I started tonight. They got 13.5 light and timers were adjusted to ensure that they'll get 12 hours dark. I'll adjust so that they always get 12 hours dark - gradually, so that in a couple of weeks they'll still be on 12 dark but the 12 hours dark will be during our warm period - follow? Anyone else done this? Yea I know - my grow is a model for hermies - but, please bear with me. There's reasons. Here's the questions.

MT - did you find the AK48s thirsty but nute intolerant?
Anyone else out there grow Top44? Doubt it - What was I thinking?
Anyone want two guinea pigs (no - not a strain, just two guinea pigs). I'll throw in the cage.

Night folks.

Hi dude,

The AK's are quite thirsty once you get well into flower i was watering them every other day for most of the time & almost daily in the last couple of weeks, but i have had temp problems all the way through so this could have been a big part of that.

They are quite light feeders too, the last lot only had @ 4-5 feeds of canna flores & during weeks 5-6 they had 3 feeds of PK13/14. they're quite easy to burn so best to start off with a light feed & build up.

i only used 5ml of flores per 3.5 ltr of water, i use empty 6 pint milk containers as it's nice & easy to measure.

As for Nirvana genetics / mutants .. i haven't seen anything to worry about, the AK seems a very stable strain and certainly delivers the goods.

I can post a few pics of my last couple of AK grows if you like to show you what to expect.

Anything else just ask M8.
