Not really sure if this is a noobish question, not really thought about it before, when is the best time to switch from say... a 250 watt MH light to a 600 hps? is it better to do it a week after the 12/12 switch so as to minimise stretching? will that effect yield? or is it better to do it as the start of the 12/12 switch? causing higher stretching growth? but creating bigger yield?

Alrighty soo I've been growing this baby for about three months now, and it's just now
beginning to show signs of it's sex.

I know its hard to see in the pictures, but I'm pretty sure that i can see what looks like little buds that could potentially develop into flowers, indicating that it's a Male..

Then again, within the past few days it's beginning to develop what are know as "Pistils" indicating that it's indeed a Female.. WTF right?

I'm honestly pretty sketched about cultivating it, and want nothing to do with it if it's indeed a Male.

ALL opinions would be Greatly appriciated, Let me know what you guys think from taking a look at the pictures!

hey ppl, i been doin a bit of research in to grow spaces lookin for my next project and i came across the pc grow boxs............wow! they are great.
defo gona do one next as i was gona try amneisa lowryders.
a few questions first tho
do i just put the seeds under 24 hour light?
how many can i fit in? (normale size box)
do i germ the seeds first or put them straight in?

I have been trying to research it but cant always find answers.
Here's my situation and id be *extremely* grateful for any advice...

Ive never grown weed before but now i think i may have the chance. The possible problem is space. I live in the UK in a studio flat, and have been staring at the space where i could have a washing machine. Id rather grow some weed there, but is it large enough and can i find a tent small enough? The measurements are: 89cm High/ 55cm deep/ 60cm wide. Its in the kitchen, with a socket and near to a window. Im guessing i would need to point the ventilation pipe out the window; thats another concern, as if my landlord noticecd a pipe, he'd know i dont have room for a tumble dryer! Would i really need to have the fans on 24 hrs/day?. If i just left the kitchen door closed and the window open, would that be ok? I really dont want to modify any fixtures, as im in rented accomodation. Ive looked at tents online and havent seen any shorter than a meter, and then i dont even know if thats high enough to grow decent weed. It will only be for myself, so i can have a few smokes 'every' evening. I probably go through a quarter/month.
Can i do this? with 89 cm of heighth? A tent, for me, is the way to go. I can pack it up quickly if needed that way.

how long until you can see sex doing 12/12 from seed and can i do it in a pc i just want to grow her big enough to take a top clone makeing sure she is female then i will scrap her and do my scrog unless its ganna be to long thing is i was waiten on a clonew and it wont be ready for a week but my green thub is itchen so how long to determine sex average on 12/12 from seed ????

just curious! ive been told that when a plants in flower the closer you keep your lights ON and lights OFF temps the less stretch you get and you get tighter nodes!
has anyone used or do you think its worth using a heater with a thermostate set to like 27c for example.. so then your tent stays within 27-29c through light n dark periods

My grandad always said September was the month of spiders, and I now fully understand what he meant!

My place is crawling with them. Real big bad mothers too! 3 in 3 successive days...Most recent one was tonight, crawling on the side amoungst Mrs. Dhaka's food prep (Making spring rolls...YUM!). T'was huge and hairy. Never seen one on the side either, normally scurrying on the floor or walls. I never kill them, would rather have spiders than flies, but I don't like them. I put a pint glass on him , and then slid an envelope under and took him outside (And then had a zoot to celebrate his freedom :) ). He was very aggressive - reared up and stood his ground, then off he went.

What about you ? Any noted increase in spider activity ? And good spider stories ?

Man I hate them. Use to watch kids in the philipinnes do spider fighting, use to make my skin crawl, they sell them and put them in painted match boxes, some prize fighters fetch 10US$ a piece (And the best ones come from near leccy transformers - my mate jose told me :) !) . Google spider fighting if you're interested, cruel or fascinating ?

were do i start..i knew the cops were coming round..so i got rid of 2 nearly fully mature plants (gutted..
so they came in had a look round and i saw i pig mouth to other growing..i live in an upstairs flat...so they only seen a bag of soil and some pots...so a few days later a sergant come round for a statement..(family member went missing) and he says can i look in your loft so i said help ya self..so in hind-sight do u think they got out on me..just cause of some pots and soil...or are the sneaky bastards waiting to pounce at a later date..i only have 2 cfl bulbs and i`m sure they did`nt see them..any help info would be great :gulp: :joint:

After I have finished the present grow I am gonna get a better set up sort so was wondering if I should do a scrog or just 1 plant.

I ain't to fussed about how much I get from a plant as I only smoke abit an am growing more for fun than necessity.

I have 2x 125w cfl blue an red spec an I am planning on getting an old wardrobe or somethin an growing inside that but not sure if my lights will grow a monster or not.

Got meself a Vecton 2 UV jobby, matched it with a suitable aquarium pump with air bubbler. It is the 400 model which can handle 1300 litres an hour, so using a 125 ltr res, gives a complete change every few minutes. Before the res was getting slime on the surfaces under the water and the water was a bit murky. Since then 99% of the slime has gone and the water is crystal sparkly and the plants seem to like it. worth considering.

just a quick one here guys could you grow a crop under a 400/500 watt flood/security light the type you stick to your house wall outside iv got one spare and was going to try it and see what happens just wanting to know if anybody else has tryed this or am i going to be wasting my time :stoned-smilie:

Inspired by a recent thread, I've been looking into wild camping. I've done tons of regular camping with Mrs Vdubber and the mini vdubbers, but fancy trying something abit more hardcore. Anyone else into proper wilderness type camping? Found this website in which the guy gives alot of great advice and quite a few trip reports, but they're mainly based around the lakes, and being a soft southern nancy boy, was wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere a bit further south?

YO,these were 3 of 5 cuttings left in a glass of water on window sill a while back now and i just thought i would pot them and see what happens,im very new to this and took 2 of the same indoors a while back to experiment flowering them the indoor 2 produced very well and left just over 8 oz once bone dry and smokes good, im used canna veg and flores along with pk13/14 and bloombastic and seemed to get the hang of it towards the end the 3 in the pics i just gave a feed now and then but now the larger one has turned ,do you think i should leave out in this crap weather ?
if so will it produce a yeild or if i take in now will it be to much of a shock ?
sorry for the long post but i could do with a bit of feedback here please..

Hi all ive been looking around the diarys and bits for the past half hour looking at cfl grows as im a cfl grower and i came across a small cfl diary which had some very nice plants in it BUT even looking at the picture i can see how much light is being lost even 10cm away from the bulb.
I no this is because its a cfl bulb ths is why i ALWAYS lst and scrog grow as this gets the maximum out of the bulb and the plant has more of it surface area in the highest and brights part of the bulb.
Which leads me to my title im putting my head on the chopping block by saying
"why would anybody grow with cfls and not lsd or scrog"

Its just my opinion but if your going to grow with cfl grow scrog or lst as this gets most amount of buds in the highest power of light.

As you all sussed by now I am new to home horticulture, I’ve had good advice of you so far about my first attempt, Now then when I start my next lot that’s when you guys can be more than helpful, this is what I have to work with,

An outside toilet.
7f x 4f and 7f high.
All insulated and painted bright white.
I take fresh air from inside the house via a 4 inch pipe in coming at the top but piped to the bottom.
I have a 4inch fan at the top extracting air and piped into the toilet so every thing gets piped into the sewerage system.
And an other fan to circulate air inside.
Two x Euro Grow Light with 400watt Grolux Duel Spectrum lamp

Q, for the quickest turn round and the highest yield.

What strain
How many plants
What type of growing system, i.e. hydro soil etc.

What you all think? I have read so much on the net it’s just about doing my head in.

Ok its my birthday next week and i might get a tattoo (would be my 1st one)

i aint scared of needles or nothing its just ive never really gotten round to getting a tattoo and when ive gone before to check out parlours nothing much has caught my eye.

well i'm nearly ready to start growing again my new setup is nearly complete all i need now is my carbon filter/fan which i should be getting in a few weeks and a new light for flowering which there aint no rush for as its gonna take awhile before i get to the flower stage

ok folks new setup consists of

ds80 grow tent
250w hps for veg only ( gonna use 400w metal halide for flower)
4 single oxy pots but only gonna use 2 at moment as i wanna plant some auto's at a later stage once i decide what i want to grow

well hope you enjoy as i say i'm still waiting on a few items but there is nothing to hold me back now so i can start grow once again

So now im thinking of just putting tent up in the loft rather than making a groom as it will be easier and cheaper imo.

Im looking to start a small grow very soon and would like you experts to look my project over and prod me in the right direction if you would be so kind.

I havent smoked a joint for over 3 years and just lately ive been really craving a nice chilled out smoke.
I used to smoke quite often but it was always some short deal crap off a dirty local dealer, and no one ever knew what it was.

Now id like to grow 1 or 2 nice little plants to supply myself with a nice smoke to relax with on an evening, im thinking indeca nice body buzz to help me relax and sleep on a nite (not something that triggers off my over imaginative head). Also i dont want it too strong but would like a nice taste, so recomendations on seeds would be welcome for that.

Here's my box made of plaster board, h24 w12 d15 . I need to know will i only get 1 small plant or 2 in this space. Will 2 red 105w cfl bulbs be sufficient lighting or will 1 do in this space? (gonna go auto for this 1) xbox fans at top for exhaust and was just gonna drill 32mm holes in bottom with a desk fan sat in bottom blowing upward?thermometer with humidity also on way.

I will use this thread as a diary also.

Hi ive been given some nutrient and bloom boosters and the containers are in a very rough shape and there is no way to know if they are in date or not as they have paint all over the containers, i would like to know if i can still use them if they are out of date without killing my plants if not then ill just throw them as im unsure if any of them are in date and its not worth the risk if it means harming my plants.

Hey guys,

Im ordering my first growing kit and growing for the first time.
I wanted something for I could yeild around 500g per tent. something that doesnt smell or make noise, somethiing that is soil and organic and as that is as easy as possible. I know it sounds stupid, but its only for my first grow as I dont have my own place. From the help I recieved before from you guys Ive come back with this.

Here is what ill need.
1.2 tents x2
650w lights x2
5ich carbon filter x2
5 inch extractor fan x2
These pots 9 of them for each tent, so 18 in total and supposedly they give a bit of soil but not all of it...

Here are my questions if you could please help. Im buying in the uk scotland.

1.Will I need another fan?

2.What are the best soils to buy? Organic as possible? and where can I buy it?

3.What are best organic nutrients to buy and where can I get them from?

4.What else do I need?

5.How can I control the tempreture and humidity of the air in the tent?

6. Whats a good timer for the lights?

7. Whats the difference between normal and cfl? (I can googled this, but wondering what you guys thought)

What do you guys think of the pots? automatic watering system for soil and seems quite tidy.

Hey guys, I checked out the faqs and it didnt help much unless someone can link me to the correct part.

Im new the growing, Im gonna grow first batch in a week.
I normally buy my best mj from a mom from canada, and the super strain are the best ive had, better than amsterdam by miles and miles. like jack herer and purple kush.

i looked at the cannabis awards and it looks like greenhouse seed normally wins if im not mistaken, so wouldnt that mean if someone is also growing with soil and organically wouldnt it be quite nice aswell? doesnt that make greenhouse seeds the best company or strains as they are always winning?

if not what sites have better strains? for example, white widow from greenhouse, as arjan says he invented it, wouldnt it be the best version?

or arjans hazes? as there cup winners, wouldnt that make them the best sativas?

i was really really happy with the strains i tried from canada, like og kush or hempstar and would be surprised if something arjans ultra super haze would be better.

i know these are newbish questions and sorry for asking, lead me the right way ppl to the faqs if im mistaken.
