Where is the best place to observe the trichomes to tell if they are properly ready. I normally just stick my scope on the top cola but I don't think that's an effective spot

I usually take an estimate from all over the plant
Estimates? What do you mean?

It hard to type down lol
I like to get 50/50 cloudy amber so I look at the top mid and bottom buds.
The top bud may have more cloudy than amber yet one of the bottom buds will have more amber than cloudy
So I imagine a whole plant % instead off per bud.
Like I said its hard to explain lol
Right, I don't expect you to get in fill detail. Just something basic. When I'm looking through my scoop I try to look at each clear, cloudy, and amber and compare each one to each other. I hope that is easy to understand.
I was sure if there was a spot better than the other. Such as a frosty leaf, under side of a leaf, or the flower itself. What's your take on that?

A trichome is a trichome no matter where the fuck it is, hence my whole plant reply

I believe there are two types of trichomes, or maybe their not both trichomes. But the ones under the leaf without a head are something similar, though I don't know if they contain cannabinoids.
I think you're right that there are two* types of trichome (capitate and non-capitate?), but I think that the 'different' things you're referring are the urticating hairs. ETA: Or is it cystolith hairs?
*I think there are actually a lot more than two, but that the ones we see fall into/are classified according to those two broad groups.
