RC I'm hoping by using a voltage stepping thing for 50 bean off eGay will hopefully allow me 5 settings to adjust my fan with out any humming. Im hoping by using a combination of boxing the fan in old clothes and stepping the fan down one nauticle notch of speed'iness I can achieve what I am setting out to, erm achieve

I dont really hear any hum. Just the fucking horrendous whoosh of the fan blasting away. Sounds like the missuses hair dryer has been chipped and remapped.

Ive just been in to re check and clarify and its not the exhaust or filter ends its more the motor of the fan. So I think by boxing it up and insulating it some how will reduce the noise a great deal.

Also my fan is currently hanging on solid cord and probably vibrating the whole tent to bits. Bungee cord to suspend it would probably make a bit of difference to eliminate any low frequency hums

Build yourself a box dude you won't be disappointed, mines in the loft on a slab of sponge directly on the joists, you can't hear a thing. Even in the loft its just a very faint sound.

    Hi mate

I take it there is no issues with the fan getting hot as there is no air movement around the fan?

Also I have some kingspan, would this be good enough to break and fill the box?

I am planning to do this for my intake, box the duct and then box the intake fan like you have done above with wood and fill with kingspan. You think that will work?

this is on my to do list tomorrow, simple yet effective!

@ Bud, that clip you have used to connect the ducting on the right side of fan, what are they called?? Also is an option to mount my fan to my air cooled hood using one of those?

    Thanks SW
