How often would you flush a system like that?

I cleaned my single pot system out and flushed through the pipework/pumps when I changed from veg to flowering nutrients. Res changes.. once in veg and weekly in flower.

Good luck with the build mate, i too have built a groom in the loft. Lots of work but pretty awesome once its done.

I have a 100litre water butt but the 250lt would have been ideal for me.

Youre right FSM its a load of work , been at it for a week and thats after the builders had been in to do the structural shit. Im now stressing about the amount of water up there but just keep reminding myself I never panic when she has a bath !!!!

Ive been insulating the shit out of it and today my last bits arrived , just got to get them in and im then working on the res and the Pots . Ive read your diary top to bottom ( quite a few times) amongst thirty others . Im still struggling with what to do once the beans are popped .

Any advice would be welcome , I was thinking about making a 4 pot bubbler until their big enough to go in the main system ? say Rockwool too 3inch pot then when the roots are big enough drop the 3inch into the 6inch net ??

I have the 250ltr Budbox water butt. But I have put it in my garage attached to a R50 RO unit . I have then bought a cheap Titan submersible water butt pump from screwfix for £20 . I ve piped it up out side the rear of the house and through the eaves into the loft. When the float valve drops in the res in the loft , the pump kicks in and fills the res - well thats the theory mate the res in the loft isnt done yet but I have tsted the pump and it works fine

Kool sounds like you have everything thought out well. Preperation is the key and by the sounds of it your well prepared. I reckon you will do just fine. In terms of worrying about the weight i did too, just try and figure out which wall is the load bearing wall below and spread the weight across the load bearing wall if you can.

I have a perfect solution for what to do with your young plants, stick them in 5" netpots with clay pebbles and make a single pot dwc with a plastic tub a hosepipe a pump and a couple of cable ties. Infact all the pictures are on page one of my current diary about halfway down the page. Hose with a few holes in it connected to a pump . Hose cable tied to box at either end and used as a spray bar. Worked well as you can see on the roots of the little ones in the pics.easy to make.

Thanks FSM - thats the one - I have a spare 64ltr usefull so Im right on it - think i could use the MJ 1000 i was going to use for the chiller - I suppose I could pump out the res through the chiller and the outlet back from the chiller could be the spray bar ? I was going to use 200mm ( 8") net pots in the final system and the insulation is already cut for them , so can you just stick the whole 5" pot straight into the 8" pot and cover with pebbles once the roots are through and the plants are big enough or will I have to cut them out of the 5" pots?

Cant believe I missed that in your blues diary - must have been a stoners moment or I was trying to get to the bud porn to quick !!!!

Yeh mate i cant see why not, you could try cutting the 5" netpot off aswell but it might be tricky and could damage roots if your not careful.

Oh and make sure you buy some bennies aswell as they will help you keep the roots healthy. TNC Mychor hydro , great white, bactivator....... Populates the roots zone with healthy bacteria.
