    Default EC controversy

Ok so a mate of mine reckons that you need to put rez water in at a pH of 6.2 in flowering yet Ryan Rileys Growing Elite Marujuana says that plants do better at 5.2 which I thought would be too low. Ive been doing ok keeping mine at 5.8 but what is the truth here???

I start mine low then edge it up through veg and flower..
This keeps essential nutes available to them when they need it most..
Mine generally rises in veg and drops in flower..

    Hope it helps..
    Peace..

So do I raise it up to 6.2 and let it fall to 5.5 in flower then?

LOLs this is going to get very confusing if we are not careful

First when Chu Chu says he keeps it Low We need to know if he is referring to the PH its self being a low figure because we dont really want to have seeds germinating or clones in 5.2 PH
The Ph we must remember is increasing in acidity as the Ph drops so id recommend all novices using 5.8 through out the grows once you have done a couple of grows you will have grasped and leant the ups and downs of the PH tables and will be able to start to fine tune it but the aim is to keep it slowly drifting up. Like Chu States there are a number occasions where it may unexpectedly drop particularly during the mid flower PKSpike stages etc.

@Berzerker you cannot rely on it rising or falling in flower so no thats not what you are looking for.

There is a very good sticky on the subject in the hydro section I suggest a good read of that will really help get your head around things and make it a little clearer

Depends on how far in you are mate..

5.5 at the start of veg for me..
    5.8 by flip..
6.0 about 2/3 weeks in flower..
6.2 by the end of flower as it starts to drop quicker..

Plants are more ca hungry in veg and mg hungry in flower..
So the ph reflects this and makes sure its available to them..

Usualy keeps the res in range for the week then without adjustments..
I use coco in flood & drain tho with a 200L res so might differ to yours..

    Peace..

i started only setting mine religiously to 5.8 but this time i been letting it wonder a bit either way so 5.6 -5.9 and it seems to have been working well as i so far have had no defs, but i think 5.8 is the"safe zone"as it were, good luck and peace.

Cheers Chu. I've got it at six already as it drops quite quickly at the moment, if it slows down, I'll lower it a bit if needed. OA does seem to be quite a hungry strain tho.

Same here, religiously at 5.8 throughout, I'm a stickler for it
