    Default Autoflower lighting help needed.

    Hi All,

I've just ordered my first batch of Auto Speed Bud seeds - I've looked all over the forum and can't find advice on when to change the bulbs from vegging (blue) to flowering (red). With normal seeds (I only grow feminised) I change the bulbs over when the plant is about 12" tall and put into 12/12, but as I have no experience of autoflowers I don't know when they should go into flower mode, so is there any change in the plants to look out for? All help gratefully received!

I forgot to add - I use 1 x 250w cfl veg light and 2 x 200w cfl for flowering. I don't really want to buy any more lights at the moment, so just need to know when to switch from one to the other.

Thanks for that Scooby - what light cycle do you use - I've read that 18/6 or 20/4 is preferable.

I use a 400w hps rite from start on 18/6...it is the most used time cycle for em..&seems to work well for most on here..id use my t5 panel but its to wide to fit in my starting room!!..a wardrobe..then up into loft to flower proper..some say an hps causes stretched nodes but not if u av it close enough...nice squat little plants,..il look out for when u start em off...good luck...its easy😎.

18/6 or 20/4 is what most people HERE seem to like. And if you want to change bulbs, do it when you see a flower. Or just start them under flowering spectrum and let it happen. If you have enough light, they won't stretch.

I leave my lights on 24 hours a day 7 days a week, if u can afford the bill then I think it gives the best results for autos.

I'm doing the same just started my new grow, got 5 youngens about 6 days old. I'm leaving the lights on 24/7 personally for the lack of temperature changes at night times, I had an oil filled rad but I like the temps constant and apparently it will be roughly 5% better yield but i dunno about that. 2 fast and vast, 2 RQ royal cheese, 1 biodiesel. They all love it so far. https://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-foru...e-Auto-Growers This is what I've been using as reference, it may help you too and they seem exactly on the time frame stated in this thread.
    Still learnin'..

I've done autos on 24/7 as well as 18/6 and didn't really notice any difference in end results. Usually I veg under Blue CFL for the first three weeks then make sure either my HPS or Red CFl take over. If you have the option to run two CFLs at the same time why not do one of each for a few weeks before going Red all the way.

I'm using a few cfl lights on my auto bubbleicious now and she's growing great. I changed my lights once she showed sex.
