here is a less hassle version. i might have to build some form of this type filter and test it. is it better to push air through a filter or pull it through?

You need activated charcoal, not just the regualr stuff. I got mine at the local pet store, £4.99 for 400g

That's pretty much what I am using My air is pulled through, dunno if it would make any difference if it was pushed

yeah the stuff from cooker hoods will do but i used activated carbon in a tight then stuffed that in the end of my vent hose, didnt work too well lol so dont try that

what you could try is getting some chicken wire and roll it into a tube then tape it to the inlet/outlet of your fan and wrap it with the cooker hood filter that weed heed mentioned, obviously you'd need to block the other end with something

thats the type of filter you are after

hi jus read this thread superb ideas money saving tips
i jus thought wat if you combined the two would that work
having the filter on the outside and the pellets on the inside.

are these pellets ok or do i need different ones

yep both of those products are the the ones you want, its definatly worth a shot using both but you need to make sure your fan can still blow/suck through the filter material

the first fan i used wasn't strong enough to blow the air through a ball of carbon but it was only a small bathroom fan
