    Default Leggy

    Hi Guys,

I've got 2x sensi seeds early skunk autos on the go in the greenhouse as my first grow. They're 26 days above ground and I thought they would have filled out more by now. The 2nd one in the pics is the worst of the two, the 1st doesn't look TOO bad.

They're in home composted soil mixed with a little coir and perlite and seem happy enough... but just look too tall (around 54cm) and have no body! Am I worrying unnecessarily? They get loads of light & are watered (or fed with biobizz grow - tend to alternate) every 3 days or so. Side shoots are starting to show some action but not much!

They'll be a little stretchy cause of the distance from the plant to your light source. At least that's my understanding anyway. Plus they should fill out a lot more during flower otherwise they're looking fine and healthy. Hope this helps

It does help, thanks - you know what it's like when you're a noob, every mild colour change or perceived "oddity" is amplified :-) Just getting a 2nd opinion from someone who's done it before is worth it's weight in .... bud ;-) I expect my next panic will be when they start to flower and they start stinking the place out...

No worries mate, I'm only on my first grow too -7 weeks in- so I wouldn't exactly say I'm too knowledgeable 😂 having a multitude of issues myself all down to wrong choices for soil and growing method etc but also down to poor genetics it seems. but hey we've all gotta start somewhere haha.

Did you plant them straight in he greenhouse or did you put em under a cfl first then transplant at early veg?

Yeah, I just subbed your diary :-) Looking good and bushy. If we combined mine and yours we'd have cracking plants eh!

I planted straight in the greenhouse. They sprouted in 5 days and have been shooting upwards, but not outwards, ever since!

Like you I've got completely absorbed by this and now I'm thinking of looking into tents for some winter growing. I'm just treating this first grow as a total learning experience but still have fingers crossed for some bud.... I hope! No worries if not though, I've learned a ton.

I actually sprouted 4 and gave 2 to a mate. He's doing a polytunnel grow but put his in John Innes No.3 (I think). He hasn't given any extra nutes but says he probably wouldn't use the same medium next time because it tends to thicken up like concrete after a few waters. His plants are shorter but bushier than mine so interesting differences based on the same genetics but different medium and nutes... All good experience!

All looking well a little leggy due to them being outside but as far as i can see healthy plants bud

Keep an eye on how tall they get as you may want to top them to stop them reaching over 5'

Cheers man haha we would have the perfect plant! Yeah I'm definitely going down the tent route. Growing in a bucket is just not economical at all!

If you do stick with a the greenhouse I'd suggest putting them under a cfl in a small pot and let em grow until they've got a few nodes then transplant em into the greenhouse from there that might help combat the stretch.

I'm the same bud, it's all about the learning for me on this one. When I move into the tent that's when I'll be making sure I get the highest yield I can.

I've experienced the same with my medium. Gonna get the verve multipurpose next time. Heard good things about it from other soil growers.
