    Default Nft roots blocking pump?

Hey folks would just like to ask a question, what would you do if the roots in the nft tank, (the res) were coming that far down the tank that they will block the pump intake soon, would u trim the roots ? Many thanks Harry.

What NFT are you using? My GT100 came with a maxijet which had a filter on the intake bit, but the smaller pumps from the 205, 424 clog up with bits of roots, i did wonder in the last few weeks why mine just dribbled out, wasnt till i harvested then cleaned the tanks etc found the pumps were bunged up with bits of root, you could always put a guard or something round the pump with a small hole in it to allow the water through.

How would I go about creating a guard . The problem is in a 205 with a 424 pump if you get me lol. Never had problem like this in the 424s . Thought about pruning when they get close but don't want to affect plant growth

And the pump will still have an adequate flow ? cant actually believe the root mass it's madness . Also would u strongly advice on putting an air stone in the res ?

    no

the filter will work ok i think, never had this problem. with roots covering me pumps. , i'd get enough to make two jackets, just in case you need to remove it and clean it.. once mixed the nutes will be fine .and . stop worrying
