Default Buying a variac fan controller what amp?

I've got an 8 inch ruck and when on it sounds like a jet. I've moved house and now in a mid terrace.

Currently got a plug in fan controller for a tenner but hums and makes me paranoid the neighbours can hear it. Gonna get a variac as hear they have no hum.

Found a few variac fan controllers on eBay but they come in different amps. What one do I need for am 8 inch high power from greens?

I've included a picture on both my fan and the controller on eBay.

Also are they hard to wire up. My fan is currently in a padded box i built for it

2 amp will cover that fan no worries, don't bank on those off the shelf so called variacs killing the hum/buzzing though because they are not true variacs, they are stepping transformers...

That`s right! You`ll need the plug to wire up the variac and connect your fan to it like this!
