Default HELP 50 perlite 50 vermiculite clones wilts when transplant to soil

HELP 50 perlite 50 vermiculite clones wilts and dies when transplant to soil, ive search extensively on this subject but cant really find an answer, anybody have any tips?

am thinking about cloning them in rock wools like air cloning a branch from a mother plant and have the outer layer in a cup filled with 50 perlite 50 vermiculite surrounding it left in a tray filled with water 2cm from the bottom, hopefully the roots will strengthen inside the rock wool and cause less damage when i transplant it and put soil over the roots, but I could be wrong, am not sure if the rock wool will absorb enough water from the perlite and vermiculite, has anybody tried this method?
