    Default Jinkys DIY LED

I have spent this last week watching videos and reading the forums trying to get my head around LED's and wether or not I have the ability to put together a unit for myself! I have had my eye on the Solarspec 450 panel from Amaretech but it is quite a leap of faith dropping the best part of £1000 before UK shipping and import duties! I am hoping that with the great people here at thc and the likes of Growmau5's tutorials on the tube I'll beable to pull it off!

    The Planning
I have chosen to follow Growmau5's 3 bar configuration off Youtube to fill my 1m x 1m grow tent!
I have been struggling a bit with the heatsink calculation but think I just about got it!

    3 bar
    50w per cob
    150w per bar
    150W @ Wall @ 56% eff = 84W
    84W eff = 66 heat watts?

I have spotted the above heat sink on Ebay that can be cut to length so have to set about calculating its worthiness!
According to Growmau5's tutorial I will require 110cm sq to 1W of dissipated heat.
So what is the square area of that heatsink or should I say what length of heatsink will I require?
    Total area square =
    Profile perimeter x Cut length

    Total perimeter
    Fin 2.2+19.5+19.5 = 41.2mm
    17xFins 17x41.2 = 700.4mm
    Top+fins 7.2 x 20 = 144mm
    base 146+3+3 = 152mm
    Total 896mm or 89.6cm

    50cm cut length
    89.6x50 = 4480cm
    4480/110 = 40.7W
    40.7/.44 = 92.5W dissipation?

If my previous calculation is correct a 50cm cut should be more than adequate I only require dissipation of 66W Could possibly go shorter still however light spread has to be considered!

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to burst my bubble by telling me i've got this all wrong!

I'd hope to do this passively to avoid moving parts! Just gotta be sure of the math!

If I can get everything clear in my head i'll probably order 3590's from China! Alibaba is where Growmau5 said to order them!

I got mine from Cutter Electronics in the AU 3590 CD bin 3500K ideal holders , lindil reflectors /adapters , carbon pad $50 for the kit
    DHL 3 day shipping 35.oo
    PM me for a code
    Cutter is Cree authorized distributor
then there's REALSTYLES he's on here as well he has a in on Cree's at great prices as well
Jerry from Kingbrite / alibaba is the China guy
the high bins are not easy to obtain thru regular 4 sale channels
I priced US dealers & that same 3590 if you could even order the bin CD it is near $100 or way over that
most time they show long lead times & high minimum order numbers
I've ordered 3 times from Cutter happy camper here , Mark was very helpful .
I'm not shilling for anyone , I'm waiting on REALSTYLES to see what he can do .
I've seen alot guys order from Jerry/KingBrite & be just as happy as me like take Gromau he's a Jerry customer

Here's my order I've decided on this occasion to go with ' A'version of the driver without the dimming option! I'm not sure that I would find the necessity for it! I may live to regret but it is one less job to do!
