11 or 18 litre pots
Afternoon, I am going to be starting my first hydro this month and have decided to use a 2x wilma 4 pots, i was just wondering what were peoples preferences in regards to pot size?
I'm planning to scrog under 2x 600w lights 1 strain in each system to avoid issues with different strains requiring different feeding amounts.
So as the veg period will be slightly longer to fill the screen will the 11ltr be enough or will the 18 provide more root space and possibly a bigger yield?
Thanks in advance

An 11 will work fine I used them for years.
But an 18 will be better.
I find you run into less problems later on in a bigger pot.

Thank you bethmeg, did you scrog? can you recommend any nutrients for the wilma system that wont clog the lines, i live in a soft water area

Yes I scrogged dear.
Im in a hard water area and use dutch pro, they do a soft water version too.
Iv never used Ionic but its a one part feed and lots of folks rave about it.Also available in soft water
Iv used advanced nutes too.
I once ran a dripper feed and got clogged lines,I was probably using advanced at the time, cantbquite remember.
I do remember the unpleasant sucking experience I had though
All nutrients are good really, its how you use them that matters.

It's going to be a nice learning curve after soil and a few years off I'm sure, did you find veg time and overall yield increased when you switched to a wilma or did you start on hydro? sorry for al the questions I'm excited lol

Iv always been a hydro gal
Got my 6 pot flood and drain kit 6 years ago.
Iv used it as a F+D with coco F+D with pebbles
I adapted it for a while to DWC,then to a recirc dripper feed.
Im now back to F and D pebbles and ill stick with that nice and easy for me.

I'd go 18 in hydro.
Specialy with a scrog
I use 11ltr pots with soil an
Fill them pretty quick.hydro
Is much better an quicker than soil
An yourll fill 11ltr really quick which
Isn't good if your scrogging.so go 18's.

18 liters is where you want to be at bigger yield for starters, as long as you have the space, a lot of guys on the forum use Canna A+B and then all the extra's, I'm a soil man but I'm sure someone willl be able to tell you exactly what you need.............

im using the wilma large 4pots using the 11 ltre pots ,first time in hydro moved from soil. my uncle uses the same system and sized pots and hes just pulled 20 oz of 4 plants
i use canna A&B but thinking of trying ionics with it 1 part feed programme .
every time you use the canna A&B you need to use equal amounts of the A and B
where as with the the ionics its 1 bottle (grow) for the veg time then you switch over to 1 bottle (bloom) at flowering stage
you cant go wrong with either of these ranges hope this helps .
and heres a link to my diary to give you an idea of it
