If it is rdwc why are you draining to res 10 times a day ?

I used to run a similar system,I only ever drained to res once a day just to mix everything up and check ph.

Im confused..... It dont take much

Beths just trying to help dude just confused same as everyone else was when uve asked about a rdwc system then mentioned it being drained and emptied 10 times a day. SHE is epic in dwc trust me mate

Some very misleading systems about to buy off the shelf at the moment, most trying to claim they are RDWC and 99% of em are UDWC.

Pop some pics up of setup and system dude, just to calrify shit for folks

Same 1 in the pic mate but it's a 8 pot system 20 litre pots and 250 litre .rez that's why I was confused about the chiller on the brain..the water does stay in the pots for 4 hours then I bring it out at the minute to ice..normally if I wasent struggling with heat in the pots would stay in and only pull it out 1 time a day ...cheers for the help pal

I'm thinking of having the chiller on the rez. Have the water comeing out on the timer every 2 hours 4 a hour then sending it back in see how that works ..what does the udwc stand 4 plz?

    Lol
Iv got the same system.Served me well for 7 years now.
Your thread is confusing you speak of rdwc, but yet talk f and d timings.Iv done both.
I was just asking for clarification thats all,as are the other folk on this thread who are just as confused as I.
Im well aware you want to chill the water,if you just answered my questions then I could tell you how,
But now I cant be arsed.
Is that constructive enough dear ?

Im sorry I take it back.
    Got me handbag back

    So now we are clear.
Its a flood and drain system being used as dwc.
Theres nothing recirculating about it.You only have one pipe to each pot,a recirculating system uses 2.
Its a tricky one and can only be done 2 ways that I can think of (other than what you are doing now).

Have the chiller on a timer set to the exact same times as the drain times. This way when the brain becomes empty the chiller wont be running.
How much water is left in the res when the system is full?If it is more than in the brain then have the chiller connected to the res.

The only other way is to actually make it a recirculating system.
This would involve a small pump in the brain, just a 250 maxijet will do,nothing larger.
Connect this pump to drip lines to each pot.
    Gravity will ensure no overspill.
This way the brain is always full.
Then you dont need to drain the system at all, just once a day to give a good mix, perform checks, and manually switch off the chiller.

    Hope this helps somewhat
