Our Project - Tips and advice please!

Hi fellow stoners and growers, first post here and will be looking to update throughout with pictures!
First ever setup, and first ever grow of anything so looking forward to this.

Looking for help and advice, everything i have built and purchased so far is after a little bit of digging and reading reviews so i hope i have made some good choices

Here is a brief list of our setup

1.2x1.2x2m Grow tent
600W HPS Dual Spec light with shroud
6" Rhino Hobby filter
Advanced Star 6 Inch EcoDuct Fan - 20W - 260m3/h
Fabric Pots, 1gal and 4gal
Coir pellets jiffy

Various other bits, 16" fan, fan speed controller, wireless thermometer, plastic trays, some extension socket etc

Purchased BIOBIZZ ALL MIX soil (have some questions about this)
and also got some Bio Bizz Bio Grow, Bio Bloom (reviews anyone?)

What height am i looking to have the lights to begin with?
Is the filter to high, or too low?



And most importantly seeds! Have bought some Master Kush #1 seeds


Is this ok germinating like this? We soaked the coir pellets, made a little insertion dropped the seeds about 1cm and covered them up.
Currently under and over two pirex dishes, there is a little gap underneath so it's not air tight



In regards to the soil we have it claims to be

All Mix is a heavily pre-fertilized soil mixture.
It has been designed to emulate rich outdoor soil with a full micro active eco system, but in such a way that it has enough power to sustain lush plant growth for a couple of weeks with no extra fertilizer input required. "

Does that mean, when i repot the plants from the 1 gallon into the 5, that i should ease off the liquid nutrients? Or should i get soil that is 'plain' for when i repot, like the All Mix Light Mix.



So many questions, and unknowns but all part of the fun. If any one can post up any information that'd be great.

Your light will need to be dropped to about 2ft when they appear.
Your soil is strong with feed so don't use any liquid feed.
Even when you pot up don't feed until they lose some color
Which tells you the feed in the soil has run out and they need feeding.
With your soil this could be 4-5 weeks.

So when you see roots coming out the bottom of first pots give them another few days
Then pot up into bigger pots an don't feed till they pale a bit.then start feeding.2ml grow
To start off.

Thanks for the link, good write up i might just do that. looks much easier than the pirex dish! Why over complicate things

Do i need any perlite like you have used?
So that's 2ml of grow, literally a pipettes worth (will get a 2ml one) put that into 1L of normal water and then water daily as required?

Listen to what erbert said mate. Solid advice there. Not a bad idea to let some air in to the mix every now and then, the idea that seeds need to be air tight for RH levels is based on truth but don't forget plants need air to grow strong. Seedlings too.

Yes perlite is a good addition to soil.
Get a 5ml syringe much better.
Probly every 2 days for water
Start off with just a bit and up as it gets bigger.

Awesome, will do! Can you over do it with perlite ?

As i understand i will be doing, or should be doing a 18/6hr light cycle for vegetation, and when i feel they are ready to be put into flowering, i go into a full 24 light cycle? Not that i know when that will be yet but time will tell with a bit more research

Also in regards to ventilation, i have one 6" exhaust fan and filter. Should i have at least one vent hole open on the tent to account for the air that is sucked out? Or do i want all vents closed (probably like 8 in total). I do of course have the oscillating 16" fan in there

After the 18/6 thin it down GRADUALLY, with an aim of reaching 12/12 I normally do the dip, where I reach 10/14, then gradually build back up to 13/11 for a week then revert back to 12/12 then just as you see the point where you're ready I go rinse on 14/10, but that's just me.
