    Default Is it possible to...

Take cuttings and some how preserve them and plant them 24 hours later?

Old man keeps garden cuttings in a glass of water for days before he replants them?

I'm no expert but I have rooted a cutting in a glass of water before just kept water fresh. As long as you get the cutting straight into the water you should be good. Not sure if it's the best practice though good luck.

You can take cuttings with a slightly longer stem than needed, pop them into a sandwich freezer bag unsealed, give the bag a light misting, put them into the fridge, then 24 hours later take them out trim down to suit and plant. They should root just as good but you might be better taking one or two extra just in case they don't take. I've tried this for 4 days and all rooted fine I'm guessing you could leave them in there even longer

Or the other way as you mentioned pop them into a glass of water

When I take cuttings, I place the branches into a ziplock bag & keep them in the fridge, add a little water to the bag to keep the humidity high & they will last for days in that situation.
