Hi all! I recently came across a fairly large amount of seeds from the early part of the 1970's. I was wondering if any special method would help me to properly pop a few of them for my next grow? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It may be best to scuff the seed case seam with some emery paper first. You don't want to sand it all the way through, just scuff it

A good soak in canna rhizotonic diluted may also help to soften up the seed skin... There could be some real gems amongst those seeds. Maybe some original genetics from the early days

I'm intrigued by that myself blue; hoping to find some gems. The seeds are nearly 20 years older then me! I suppose if I soak em' in rhizo I don't need to use paper to soften em up too?

I normally just pre-soak water, paper towel and plant but I figured with the beans being so old I should take extra care
Hi mate. Do you have any pics at all, Interested how they were stored Etc?..

I suppose I could take a few pictures when I'm near the seeds again later today. They where in a drawer of a work area in a cold basement inside of a little plastic container.

As mc says get some fine wet an dry paper and scuff them a small amount and i would personally use the paper tissue method and a heat source.
