I trimmed on a sog grow half the plants I trimmed fan leaves half left untouched.. There was notable drawbacks in growth on the trimmed plants.
Being scrog I would suggest to use the mesh to your advantage and try to weave a little more but I wouldn't do it later on in flower

i only trim them if they are hiding bud sites.
i trim all the wisp off from under the screen, cos it will end up dying anyway, and you want the plant to concentrate all its efforts on the stuff above the screen

Anything under the screen goes in my tent about 3-4 weeks in
Peace and best wishes

I definitely give mine a defolage around week 3-4 to let light in and plenty of air flow , I find airflow more important factor , I still get good bud formation from buds particularly covered by leaves, it's the poor air flow and bud rot that will spoil the party

Why defoliate the main consumers of photons for your plant? Your plants must have that energy to produce big buds, removing the leafy consumer to reach more now-unconsumable light doesn’t make any sense. Without the big fan leaves your plants will starve for energy and stunt their growth, I recommend using zip ties to hold down big fan leaves to a support net just under your main net. This way, you can get lots of light to the buds still, and keep some of those big leaves in the way protected yet unrestrictive. Hope this helps.
