Default Answered: Heating my space with oil rad cost

My day time is plants lights off, lowest temp being 10degre celcuius , and lights on being 23 it was 28 but longer daysin flower means overall te ps lower,

I have an oil radiator, and my tents in a kingspanned loft, 2.4x1.2m tent in a 3.1x2m area, if i use oil radiator to heat this pocket would it be efficient ?

    Daytime lights off 10c
    Nighttime lights oin 23c
    2x600w fan cointrolled,
Intake stairs landing 19c no radiator.

I dont trust oil rad in tent with neg preassure,

It would be efficient yes,but only if you went for a 2400w or something.

I use a 2400w that also has an extra fan heater with it.

Going for anthing smaller would just be a waste of money

This does mean more expense but needs must and all that."

Your lights off is too cold dude and the range between temps off and on is a bit wide too. You can use an oil rad with a thermostatic plug adapter that will switch it on and off for you, they arent expensive. Why does neg pressure and a rad bother you?????

If you dont trust it in the tent then keep it outside and warm the air being pulled into the tent. Thats what I prefer to do in the winter during lights off.
I check the temp going into the room and make sure its around 19/20 degrees going through the intake. I used to get cold pockets of air with the draft under the door and cold air would still go through the intake with the radiator inside the tent, but air is warm enough now before it gets anywhere near the intake.

As DC said that's WAAAY too cold for them lights off, I'd expect growth to near halt

in those circumstances the wee greenhouse tube heaters won't cut it and i'd prob go for an oil, will depend a lot on its wattage and size/shape (mine is a wee squat 600w one) A lot of them have thermostats built in already so it clicks off when its hot enough and waits for the oil to cool before heating again

this is the last bit of the loft thats making it cold, im going to insulate it off using somthing like bubble wrap insulation and classic glass roll.

So do you use an intake and an outake?

I run passive with just the vents open, extract into same space.

You wasn't wrong about them being big I'm growing in a shed and get much colder than 10degrees in winter managed a record low of 3 degrees up to a high of 29 last winter lights on and off! I've had some pretty decent grows even with wild temp differences. It's something I'm working on tho I've just added 1500w oil rad in mine but I think beacause my intake and outtake are running all the time it barely has chance to heat the air and it never clicked off on the thermostat because it never got warm enough. So you might need something bigger than 1500 for a bigger space. It's something I'd like to get under control but hard being outside and dictated to by the weather and temps outside. I'd love to achieve steady temps but even tho I havnt managed it yet I've still had good results

I,m with ya ginge, I had a few fluctuations and extremes and still got a decent grow, but I know it could have been much better so I'm just passing on what I know now what to aim for :-) and why...
