Default What ph pen would you recommend?

I bought a ph pal plus pen for 40quid, went mid range instead of a cheap one of eBay and after 4 months it can't seem to hold its calibration always giving me different readings. I've been considering getting a blue lab one but I've read some people having bad experiences with them, I just wanted to know what everyone else was using before I did.

Blue Lab or Essentials would be my first choices (in no particular order)

How often are you calibrating your pen?

    What M_C Said.
Essentials is a cheaper option than the BlueLab. I've got Essentials. Works perfect!

I have had 2 essentials ph pens both have done a good job. They do need calibrating every now and then and even if they do not it's a good idea to check them weekly. first one i had it was 2 year old so just decided to get another.

The Essentials PH pen I have drifts about 0.1 +/- in about a month but I know of others that need calibrating on a weekly basis, so as kbag says, check them weekly!

I can calibrate it daily and even 30 seconds after is .1-3 too high or low, it will only calibrate to ph 7 not 4 aswel.
What kinda maintenance do you do to it and how do you store it? I didn't store mine in any liquid so I've read that's probably broke it

Oh! That's not good As long as you are correctly calibrating the device then it sounds like it has a fault

The essentials pen only calibrates to 7 but I also have a bottle of PH 4 which I check it against too

I am sure you can calibrate the Essentials pen to 4 as well.. I think Once you hold the CAL button and it starts blinking you need to press it again to choose between 4 and 7.
