    Default New Grower (and Member)

    Hello THCtalk,

I'm just about to start my first grow - I'll post detailed specs elsewhere but the gist is that I am growing in a 48" x 24" x 83" Gorilla Grow Tent with Kind LEDs.

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my feminized seeds from gyo.green (OG Kush).

I'm looking forward to becoming an active member of the THCtalk community, and thank you in advance for your much appreciated advice & education.

    -Eric

Nice tent. Once they pop you can't stop . Looking forward to seeing how you do. As long as you take advice you'll be fine.
Use a propagater on your seedlings once they germinate will improve growth and help with humidity in the early stages.

Welcome to the forum mate. You got nice setup buddy! Just might want to reduce the number of bendz in the ducting if it gets too hot in there.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum

...is that light leak I can see at the bottom of both sides of the tent?

Yup...I have a heat mat, tray, and 7" humidity dome ready to go after I germinate in spring water in a shot glass and plant in 6" planters.

    Thank you!

Yes, that is light leak coming from the back of the tent.

The intake is a screened rectangle approximately 3" from the ground.

The intake is fully open at the moment, meaning that the tent material is fully rolled up and velcro adhered in place, fully exposing the air-permeable ~8" x ~18" (I'll look into actual size and calculate capacity/pressure/etc later).

The intake system is great, but it does allow light to escape on the sides at the moment.

After I finish getting all the wiring neatly in place, I'll be sure to block the light out from escaping the back of the tent using some sort of baffle or deflector.

I am always open to suggestions, so please, if you have any recommendations on eliminating this type of light leak, I would love to hear them.

    Thank you much.

I am going to be reducing the length significantly as soon as my portable air conditioner window kit (my exhaust disguise) comes in from Amazon.

I cannot, however, figure out a way to reduce bends. It will become more apparent why when I post more pictures.

An active intake with a 90 degree bend in the ducting should sort out that light leak... if an active intake is not required, use some ducting anyway... with a 90 degree bend in it (light can't turn corners!)

But you'll really need to sort the light leak out before you start your grow....

Got some good gear there mate, looks like you're all set up. Experience is the only thing you're missing and you can't buy that!

Good luck and I'll be subbed up when you get a diary going 👊

That's a pretty brilliant trick...my intake is passive at the moment, and is limited to the screened rectangle intake as described previously.

If need to introduce more air (passive or active) I intend to use one of the 6" double cinched duct ports as an extra intake, particularly, the one at the bottom left side of the Grow Tent.

I'll sort it out soon (I promise), but just FYI, this grow is 100% legal. I am in California, with a medical card & 99 plant exception - both acquired from 420recs.com (thanks Dr. Francis G. Ambrosio!) so light leak probably isn't as big of a deal for me as it would be for other growers.

Like I said, I'll sort it out though...thanks again.

By the way, should I post my diary in the "Newbie" section, or in the "LED" section?

I am a newbie, but I am growing under Kind LEDs (K3 L600)...
