Newbie to growing myself don't want to give too much advice but I've heard that putting a small layer of sand in bottom of pot and a small layer ontop of soil will prevent this... I am sure a experienced grower would know more about this than me ?

If you dry the soil first, you'll kill any fungus gnat larvae and eggs that maybe in there. I never have a problem with gnats using that method. Doing that, there shouldn't be a need to add any sharp sand to the soil.

I bought Canna Terra pro from ebay (around £17). It's a lot but its a huge bag and have tons left for my next few grows. I did start the seedlings off in verve seedling/cutting from b&q it did the job for my seedlings but I did get a little nute burn. Didn't harm the yeild and had no pest problems etc with it but do get yourself a good quality compost designed for canabis if you can once yr seedlings/cuttings are a vit bigger. No need to feed until a week or 2 after potting up don't forget as the plants will use up all the nutrients in the soil 1st
