    Hi mate,

It's the first one you want.
Also, get yourself some dolomite lime (not garden lime)
    Weed sets you free.

All I can say is the last bag of verve I got was as soon as I wet it and put it under the lamp it started crawling with flies pretty harmless to my plants but really annoying someone on here suggested get the bag from lower down the pile can't think ATM the reason behind it.

With mine, I first sieve it to remove plastics, stones, large clumps that haven't broken down.
Then, I use a deep roasting tin and fill it with no more than 2 litres of soil at a time. Gas mark 1 - 2 (no higher than that) and stir from time to time.

Then pour it into a bin.

    Repeat process.

Once I have enough, I add 1 tablespoon of Dolomite Lime to every 5 litres of dry soil. Mix well, then add water to make it moist (not soaking wet)

This then goes into another bin for the dolomite to activate and for the pH to settle down. A bare minimum of 2 weeks, the longer the better. I have some that's been resting for 4 months or so.

    See my post above.

Do not use it when growing (eg, adding it to a feed) It must be done in advance.

You cannot get it from B&Q - they sell garden lime - similar, but different. It doesn't have the cal-mag ratios needed, whereas Dolomite Lime, does.

Newbie to growing myself don't want to give too much advice but I've heard that putting a small layer of sand in bottom of pot and a small layer ontop of soil will prevent this... I am sure a experienced grower would know more about this than me ?

If you dry the soil first, you'll kill any fungus gnat larvae and eggs that maybe in there. I never have a problem with gnats using that method. Doing that, there shouldn't be a need to add any sharp sand to the soil.

I bought Canna Terra pro from ebay (around 17). It's a lot but its a huge bag and have tons left for my next few grows. I did start the seedlings off in verve seedling/cutting from b&q it did the job for my seedlings but I did get a little nute burn. Didn't harm the yeild and had no pest problems etc with it but do get yourself a good quality compost designed for canabis if you can once yr seedlings/cuttings are a vit bigger. No need to feed until a week or 2 after potting up don't forget as the plants will use up all the nutrients in the soil 1st
