BG, if you go onto the screwfix website and type in the search box ' 4848J ', thats the item number

You will just need to swap the fuse out for a 32/40A instead of the 60A that its supplied with

    Or this one is a 40A, item number ' 64648 '

Take a look around as you may well find them cheaper now you know what your looking for

    Cheers

    Matt

Cheaper option, which is just as acceptable, is to buy a small enclosure, and fit a main switch and double pole mcb, probably cost you £20-30 tops

Could just fit the double pole MCB on din rail in an enclosure I guess. Just means a bit of DIY but sure it's something we can help with between us.

BG can you take a picture of the board in the attic does it have an RCD? (Automatic trip switch thingy &#128518

BG, I'd be more than happy to make you one mate, just cover the cost of materials and the postage

With the help from the lads on here I'm sure you could install it yourself

    Resurrecting this thread.

This unit is in the hall below my bathroom.
I want electric in my loft.

What's the option to avoid drilling up and messing. My plaster etc.

Bare in mind that I can't see any wires in that unit just 3 spare fuses.

i did this matey couple weeks back with help of matt sparky an loki.

this main unit in my garage

added in an extra 20amp mcb on that free slot.
ran 2.5mm twin an earth upside of house straight in to loft. were i had this consumer unit. the 2.5mm cable was wired in to the 1st breaker on the left.

then i put a 20amp mcb in there which would supply the below sockets four double sockets you can see at the back.

i wired it this way below for the sockets

So you ran the wire outside ya house? Isn't that abit bait? Or am i not getting what you mean?

Im making plans to reboard the loft with load bearing, then remake all my equipment and set with more sockets.

that comsumer unit is pretty much directly above garage main board. abit bait...??? no idea what that means man haha.

2.5mm cable runs upside of the house same way sky tv cable does. i also taped the 2.5mm cable with black insulation tape so it blends in nicely with sky cable and old aerial cable.
