Default LED lights.... nearly there yet?

Ok so I've started to see a lot of LED units around the £200 mark for 600-800watts (dual spectrum too) and it's made me consider just using these units to cover the blind spots in my grow which is down the sides due to my room being 1.8m wide and the HPS shades only covering at least 1.2m properly

For what I understand LED lighting can't penetrate the leafs but it's only to catch the blind spots and the edges of the plants

I've got at least 300-500mm on each of the sides to fully cover so dotting the LED units in these spaces could be ideal? Maximum of 4 units and my groom would be fully covered plus gives me the ability to move my plants further apart

Seen a couple of unbranded LED units on the market along with the Mars LED units falling in price it's made me consider preparing for the summer as I could just turn down my main lights and I'd be sorted? Normally I shut down for the summer and just buy if I run out

The unit i'm looking at is a 1000w LED - 100PCS exclusive 10W Grow LEDs - Color: red, blue, orange, white, IR and UV - Spectrum of Light:410nm,430~440nm,450~475nm,620~630nm, 650~660nm,730nm, 3500K and 6000k with an area coverage of about 2.6 x 3.2 Square Feet so does the job sizewise and is only £199 so won't break the bank to put two in the groom

Whatever happened with/to the hydrogrowled lot? made the Penetrater & Sol lines and such, I take a look at their website every so often and they seem to do great guns in R&D and product line terms but i hear no one using them?, they are on the pricey side and i recall there were several questions/rumours over whether they were in various ways dodgy (Dunno if bullshit), anyone been using them?

I trialed a few Blackstar panels 5 odd years ago, they....kinda sucked a bit buildwise, but i recently got a largely identical wee Roleardo 150/300w job off amazon for £50 a while back and i'm loving it as supplemental lighting so far,

I'm still a ways off wanting to commit a full grow to LED, but closer than I was 5 years ago, LEDS got a REALLY bad initial name for themselves with shitty versions and ripoffs and it's taking them a LOOOONG time to shake it off (I still assume 90% of LEDs i browse are total shitheap 'brick in a DVD player box' jobs purely on that) I'd love to see what I could do with a full LED rig if price wasn't an issue though...but again, prices have fell a shitload in 5 years....they're not overall HPS beaters yet IMO, but give in another 5 years and I think we'll see different.
    Strider's Sup Lemon Haze & L.A. Confidential DWC Good...hopefully...2018

I agree with Strider Leds are not hps beaters. I have grown with the Mars 900w and a prakasa 300w cob both i have used in a 80cm X 80cm x2.2m cupboard, yield wise i had 14oz with the mars with 4 OG kush plants. The prakasa first grow with it i vegged one Agent orange under 96w T5 and flowered under the cob and got 10.5oz. They do work on there own but i think they would be excellent as a supplement to the hps. They are great for summer growing in a small space like i have imo.

They do look look like a good deal. Some of the descriptions seem a bit mixed up. They advise hanging height to be 1.5 - 2.5 meters, is this accurate?? I quite fancy mixing these lights in with MH/HPS for increased spectrum.
