Thanks for that note. I probably would have stuffed up if I didn't think about this. I am also concerned the mixture is going to require daily watering like coco. Fuck I hope not as it was a laborious task doing it daily and I might just buy some other earth if it is the case.

I accidentally found a rather strange way to lower water PH. I bought a new PH meter and was messing about with it (boy with new toy). Took the PH of my tap water 7.5. I then took the PH of some water I had some broccoli sitting in (when you buy broccoli from the supermarket cut 5mm off the stalk then stick it in a cup of water to give it a drink for a few hours, like you would with flowers. It will soon be rock hard and as fresh as the day it was picked) The PH was 6.5. Poured some fresh tapwater into a glass @7.5 PH then put a sprout of broccoli in there 4 hours later PH 6.5.
Not sure if a full head of broccoli would lower the PH of a tank of water but who knows. The broccoli would certainly last for a week or more in the water.
So theres another bit of useless information for you.
TO GROW A PLANT YOU NEED TO THINK LIKE A PLANT
