Default 125w cfl how close to seedlings?

hi all i have 5 thc bomb seedlings all sprouted out of my 1 inch rockwool cubes.

i have them in a propagator but they seem to be stretching quite a bit already, do you think i should lower the light down or maybe remove the plastic propagator lid so the light can get closer to the small leaves?

if so how far away from the top of the leaves should the bulb be?

the light im using is a 125w cfl with reflector.

    Many thanks

    Dave

Hi Dave, you can get a CFL right down to the tops, just do the hand test but you should be able to get that pretty much sat ontop of the propergstor

You don't get a great deal of light penetration from the 125w Cfls. Bring it right down onto the top of the propagator. If your humidity is high in the grow room 60% plus you can remove the lid.

You should be able to get the cfl as close as 3 inches from the plant tops

Remove the lid, props are for cuttings not seedlings, get them close as possible about 10cm if not closer. Put your hand under for about 20sec at the distance where your seedlimgs are gonna be and if its too hot for your hand its too hot for them. I doubt it very much tho they produce little heat. Get a little fan on them if possible aswell i seem to get canoong when using cfl at a close distance. I mainly use hps tho.

Personally I have my 200w about an inch away don't cause me no problems unless the bulb actually touches the plant, the inch is just a precaution to give the plant room too grow 😉
