Use molasses as part of your flush. Kills to birds with one stone.
I went to my local grow shop, never been there before but they were really helpful. Sounds strange but I normally use the one by work.
One point the guy had was without an EC meter you'll never know salt build up levels, how much nutes you should be giving etc? His opinion was if you keep the EC right then you'll never have burn or lockout issues. He said he would follow Cannas recommended EC and if the PH is over 0.5 out he would correct it as the soil can only buffer so much, i'm not as bothered about PH now but what do you think about using an EC meter?
Also 10 - 11 inches is way too close to have a 250w light?
Mate are you growing in soil or hydro?
Soil, i'm guessing that is why bother?
Why are you faffing around with EC and PH mate?
You are growing in soil. All you need to grow in soil is simple. The soil. Some nutes when (and only when) your plants need it and water as a rule. All this messing around with over complicated stuff is not helping your grow. All I use is Old Timers Grow, and Old Timers Bloom when growing in soil. And after seven plants grown in soil, and nearly a kilo of dry herb I still have most of the OT Grow left and a third of the OT Bloom left.
Keep it simple.
It does seem very easy to complicate things when growing.
I did the flush last night and borrowed an EC stick just out of interest and I think my problem was salt build up, the first plants run off was 2 and climbed to 2.6 before slowing dropping down to 1 after a lot of water and the 2nd plant started at 1.6 and then took the stick off the scale so over EC4.0. I've flushed them till they dropped down to 1 so I know most of the build up is gone.
Interested to hear your thoughts on the high EC readings, not saying I'm going to mess around with it but it does seem to show a big salt build up in my soil?
It does indicate that there was a build up yes. But as you say forget about the EC and PH and just concentrate on soil growing. When you migrate to coco or some other hydroponic method then bring them out again.

I will, hopefully now I've cleared the build up the problem won't get worse. I'll do another soil grow with the same strain and see how that goes and then consider moving to coco.
I've moved the light up so its a good foot from the tallest colas and after checking with a lux meter arranged the 2 plants so they share the light better.
I'll report back on progress anyway.
