    Default Trichome reality check

First time grow, 2 plants -- Money Bush and Northern Lights – indoor in soil under 2 LED arrays with actual wattage of ~133 W each. Both plants veg'ed for 9 weeks (yes, I'm patient) in a 60 cm x 120 cm ScrOG, and just passed 5 weeks of 12/12. Everything has gone well, with some minor stumbles due to inexperience, but the plants have been healthy throughout the grow.

The thing is, I checked trichomes today and both plants are showing cloudy and amber trichs!? Seems way too early, but I've no real idea how fast things progress to harvest from here so I could really use some seasoned input. What say your experienced eyes? Do I have a couple more weeks?

    TIA.

are they still putting out new pistels? (white hairs). If so I'd give them another couple of weeks, but that's a top of the head figure. keep an eye on trics

The OG Kush i had used do this amber started showing on the sugar leaves between week 4-5 of flip. I used to chop her at week 8 from flip and was a banging smoke, wish i had still had her. But as locky said check your the buds they most likely be a mixture of clear and cloudy.

Thanx, Locky. The trich closeup is from a sugar leaf I snipped off in order to get it under my dissecting scope. I assume that's correct?

Pistil production has certainly slowed down, but the buds seem relatively sparse so I'm hoping they produce for a couple more weeks so they can fill out a bit more. I'll post a couple of representative shots of a couple of buds later to shine additional light on the girls' current condition.

Need to check the biggest buds for trichs and on the actual bud not super leaf

Ah, I see. I didn't realize the sugar leaves mature earlier than the core of the bud, so ostensibly the calyx is right structure on which to check the trichs. Panic averted!

The reason for your early maturity is possibly genetics or the led panels. I hope you took some cuttings off these girls as i am sure they are going to be a cracking smoke. Oh and very nice tidy scrog you have there Skeptik.

Yup, I've come to learn that the sugar leaves -- which I've been checking -- mature a couple of weeks or more before the rest of the bud, so the calyx, which has only crystal clear trichomes, is where you check for "doneness."

    Thanx for your help!
