    Default Multiple toppings, how much time to wait between one and the next?

    I would like to top my plant several times.
    How much time should I wait between each topping?
    Should I always top at the highest branch?
    How many topping cuts would you recommend if I'm unlimited in space (got 9' ceiling and a whole room for the grow)
    and not in any hurry, but would like to maximize the yield per plant?

    My goal is to get at least 15 oz. from a single plant.

    Thanks!

    I will only have 1 plant.
    I have a 35l pot.
    I'm planning to use a 600w LED.
    Not fake 600w, real 600 wattage.

    I can do a scrog, but that still doesn't answer my question.
    I know the first top should be at the 4 node.
    Does that mean that the I should wait until the new top growths have 4 nodes themselves on the shoot before topping them too?

    First top should be at the 4th node..so actually removing the 5th one...

    Then let it recover and branches will grow like that..

    Then you can top all the ends like that ..

    Recovery time is strain, growing medium and environment dependant matey.

    @Bulls
    Thanks, that gives me a much better idea what to expect and when to top after the first one.
    When I top all the ends (like in your 3rd pic), do I do them all at once, or one by one and wait for recovery in between?

    Do you happen to have a picture of a third round of topping?

    I did them all at once mate.
    I haven't done a third round of topping but you can do that once plants allow it. I usually aim for about 15-20 tops on a plant so that gives me whats needed

    You can top as often as you like. When to top each node is more about plant structure than time. You want the two resulting branches to be growing in the right direction to fill in the space properly. In other words, top so that the branches grow outwards into an empty space, rather than up and down. Don't top so much that branches are growing into each other, or you will just get smaller buds and leggier plants as they compete for space and light. That could mean topping after the very next node or skipping one or two or three. In an older plant that is alternating, same issue and decision. You are pruning for structure, not for maximum growing tops. Yield on the plant will be controlled more by the size of the root ball, space, medium, nutrients, and light, not the number of nodes. You can have more smaller buds or fewer humongous buds given the same basic criteria.

    But as mentioned, your plant will be happier and fill your space faster in a SCROG, since bending and training does not set the plant back like pruning will.

    And as to when to start, you can clip the fourth or fifth set of leaves (i.e. after the third or fourth node). As long as the new mode has more petals than previous, I will usually not clip. So if I get two modes with 5 petals (1,3,5,5), I will clip the second one. If I get 1,3,5,7 I will let it stay. I cant say if it matters, just my gut feel on the happiness of the plant and what it is telling me.

    @galtbob:
    Valid points, will definitely consider those.

    The strain I have is probably Early Skunk, I know they grow very tall, and personally I don't mind if I have Christmas tree in the living room
    because the cabin I will grow it in is the middle of nowhere, over 10 miles to the nearest neighbor.
    In an attempt to maximize the yield, I'm going to top and prune, but I can still allow it to grow twice as tall as an average plant.

    I will probably get another light like the one I have before I start.
    Still I feel I have a lot to learn before I'm ready to start.
