It's a great addition to the ladies and a great microbial food, I use a lot of this in teas.

Does it make any difference if it is blackstrap? NAF do 5 litres of unsulphered normal molasses for £7.40.

The black molasses in the picture is correct as I read a thread about the packaging being changed.
I used this and the final product had a liquorice taste which was different.
I'm sure I've read something on here about molasses to be used in flush only as it blocks certain nutrients uptake and will present deficiencies (nitrogen I think) samwise is the fella to speak with

You need black strap ideally lad. bout 3 quid a jar. its a better higher up the chain refined cane, that has lods of beneficials in it as opposed to the standard molasses. get bs the other will do something, but the idea is to feed the microherd all those goodies in the bs. Standard won't get youre herd as excited. best o luck

Copied from another site. (Live strong)

    Unsulphured Molasses Benefits

Processing the sugar out of sugar cane takes out the empty calories and leaves the nutrition behind. Molasses is still sweet, but it has acquired the distinct molasses flavor and natural nutrients. Molasses contains iron, magnesium phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, cooper, manganese, selenium, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid and choline. The sulfur dioxide used during manufacturing does not add or take away from molasses's nutritional profile. If you are allergic to sulfur-containing food preservatives, however, look for unsulphured molasses.

    Blackstrap Molasses Benefits

The triple boiling and sugar extraction process results in Blackstrap molasses being a more nutritionally dense sweetener than plain or "second" molasses. Blackstrap contains the same vitamins and minerals as "second" molasses, but in a more concentrated form. Blackstrap molasses also contains antioxidant compounds, which may help prevent cell damage from free radicals. Blackstrap can be used to sweeten beverages and to add flavor and color to cooked foods. As with "second" molasses, you should purchase the unsulphured Blackstrap if you are allergic to sulfur-containing food additives.

I've had a load of root rot issues when I used to grow in soil with sugars.

Adding that much organic matter was creating mold issues for me I think.

It was years ago tho and my environment wasnt the best so could have been down to the cold or anything. Just something to bear in mind possibly.

Oh and I used to use Tate and Lyles Black Treacle. 44p from Morrisons

I think black strap would be far less sweet than treacle which is just a sugar syrup with little nutritional value. Black strap is the least sweet molasses but most nutritionally dense.
