Default Help with fan and filter

    Hi guys
Im looking at getting a new fan and filter .
I was looking at the 5" rhino filter, the shop where im looking doesnt say if its the hobby or pro. It just says long or short? They only do a short in the size i need.
And the fan i was looking at is a 5" rvk fan. Can i use a controller with this? Also which one?
    Sorry for all the questions
The tent what its for is a 1.2x1.2x2m

You should make sure that your filter can handle the volume of air that your fan can move.

A fan that can shift 1800 cubic metres of air, will need a filter that can handle at least 1800 cubic metres of air too. If the fan sucks through more air, then the smell will leak out.

I would recommend a minimum of a 6" fan for your tent. The filter will need to match the fan, if you go for the bigger fan.

The difference between the Hobby & Pro, is the amount of air it can handle, the pro being the better filter. You will also need to consider that you will be sucking through the filter, this will require that the fan can handle the roughly 20% drop in performance while pulling through the filter.

Overall, you want a filter that can handle more air than your fan can pull through at full speed.

Filter = 2000 cubic metres per hour
Fan = 1800 cubic metres per hour

    You'll be set.

Note: The numbers are just for explaining purposes, you'll need to adjust as per the setup you choose.

Ive already fot the hole drilled for the 5 inch fan so dont really want to go bigger if i can help it.
Would the 5 inch rhino short filter be ok with a 5 inch rvk fan but which i can connect to a temp sensor so it slows it down if it get abit cold?

    Ok
As i already have the hole there would i be able to get a 6 inch fan and filter but have the 6" ducting going to a 5" reducer then back to 6" ducting?
Would that be ok or would it cause problems?
    Thanks

You want either a 6" or 8" if your running 600w, with a variac and overaized filter if money allows. It will be much more silent.

Would it be ok to reduce the ducting down to 5" then back to 6" though? If it would be ok then i would get the 6" just want to check first.
Anybody know the best place to buy these?

You will cause a bottleneck in the ventilation mate, the fan won't work as efficiently as it should...

Right got a shopping list together
    6" l1 rvk
6" 600mm rhino filter would i be able to get the shorter version?
    Combi ducting
    Sms single fan controller 5amp
    Easi release clips
If i kept the fan in the tent (how loud would it be?) would i be able to reduce the exhaust duct to 5" to go through the ceiling?
I really need to try and get this setup silent.
    Thabks guys
