    Default harvesting for oil

    hi all
thanks for any and all advice
i'm growing to make oil for suppositries for my wife with cancer
we are nearly out of the last batch
and have this critical mass soon ready for harvesting
but when? if 70% nodule thingees have gone brown?
is there a particular right time when making oil?
how long do you experts reckon?
some lower buds with top buds too in pics

next, as i say, we need the oil asap and know it should be fully dry before we proceed
with those big heads, thats going to take a while
is it best to cut up small and put in a drying basket in warm room?

on one cancer help site they did a bake for 45 min before making the oil
    does that ring true?

i apologise if all this has been answered/gone through before
could you post link to the right thread if so

    thanks all very much

Harvest with 100% cloudy trichomes for maximum THC or no more than 5% amber. Fully dry your crop and if you have time, cure for 4 weeks. For high THC oil, decarb @ 110c for 110mins. That will give maximum THC levels.

from my pics, does that look a long way off do you think?
i am afraid we dont have time for a fully dry and 4 week cure

Get yourself a little scope 60x or 100x and zoom in on the trichomes/crystals. They have a mushroom shape about them. When they are 100% cloudy, harvest your crop. If you have amber, it's still fine so don't sweat it but 100% cloudy will have a little extra THC
Dry your crop, 5-6 days should be ok. Make oil with a few oz so you don't run out but start curing the rest.

    ty mr pot
yeah, i was surprised myself how they look on photos
the plants are tiny, less than 3 foot high, but i pinched-out and, as i was told, they sure sprouted out

yes, mr med, ty again, i have got a magnifer, yesterday, dont think it is to that spec though...
i will have a look and see what i can see

i think i will harvest the top buds and leave the rest to mature a little, we need some oil now now

i have searched through on here and dehyrators are roundly abused all around
but the criticsm seems to be all about taste
we are making suppositaries here, not spliffs, so the taste dont matter
i am not sure, though, if the dehydrator really messes up the THC and CBD levels

the alternative is putting on the lowest heat of an open-doored oven perhaps
will this aid the decarb more than a dehydrator i wonder

If you are that desperate for the oil then dry some in the oven. Set it to its lowest temperature and keep checking on it. I don't know how long that will take to dry as i've never done it that way but you can do it, the oil will still potent.
