Default Will be away for curing, can't burp jars, what should I do?

    Hey guys.

I'm just about to harvest my plants.
They will be drying for about 7 days and right after it I will need to travel for 2 weeks and will be away during the first two weeks of curing of course.

My question is what should I do? I know you're supposed to open the jars everyday for the first weeks of curing to circle things around and avoid mold.

But I can't have anyone do it for me unfortunately.

So, Keep the jars closed or opened for this time?

Maybe put some silica drying pads on the jars , of course they will dry a lot but at least avoid losing it to mold?

Or maybe a boveda? Is a boveda 62 capable of working humidity both ways to keep it on point ?

    I'm clueless ! Need help!!

Not sure there's a lot you can do buddy.maybe use woman's tights and elastic band as the lid to allow slight air flow

How about poking a few tiny holes in the lid to slow down the exchange of air but not stop it

Yeah Erb I think boveda will just keep the Rh steady at 62 when it gets to that stage through burping daily. If put into jars and closed the Rh will just rocket in high 90s and if left open just go crispy, airy and harsh. Bad timing having to go away op m8 I dunno what to suggest

    Thanks guys

I guess I will have to rely on its marketing claims and prey for the best.

    From the boveda website:

    Code:
Curing with Boveda is as simple as it is perfect.
    1. Dry using normal method until stems break (ideally, a tiny bit further)
    2. Jar with Boveda. 4g up to 14g of flower, 8g up to 1 ounce, 60g up to one pound, one 60g per pound.
    3. Cure as long as you like, no burping required.
    4. Enjoy!
    Whatís happening while itís curing?
Boveda is fine-tuning by adding or removing moisture from the flower to give it the same moisture content throughout the flower. Burping for the sake of moisture isnít necessary, so burp only if you like!
We recommend drying a little past ideal so that Bovedaís primary purpose is to give moisture to the flower. Thatís because itís easy to tell when Boveda needs to be replaced Ė when the entire thing turns into a fairly solid wafer.
When Bovedaís primary use is to remove excess moisture, itíll still be soft and impossible to tell when itís absorbed all it can.

Dunno mate all sounds good there but I know when I chopped and dried my previous 2 harvests and put them in jars with boveda 62 the Rh crept up quite quickly for the 1st couple of weeks and needed burped multiple times daily.
It definitely didn't do what it says on the site and bring Rh down but now that my bud is well dried the Rh is still in 60s so it's doing a good job of not getting too dry.

I am very new to this venture but I had the same problem. I harvested then found out I needed to leave town for a week and a half. I ended up drying and then putting into mason jars with 1 small desiccant packet per jar. Everything worked out great. Maybe I got lucky. Let us know how it goes so I can adjust if it ever happens again. Cheers!!!

    Not fresh.
I will have 1 week to let them hang dry.
Only after dry I will put on them jars with the boveda.

you could always go for the paper bag method? Or just take the weed with you

Maybe jar the buds up after 4 days of drying and start the cure... It's a tough one, leave the jar shut and you will almost certainly get mold but leave them open and you might come home to dust weed.... This is why I don't plan trips around harvest time.
