Default First Time Growing Advice - Seedling Stage!

    Heya,

So, I'm on my 8th day since I planted my seed (Nirvana Bubblelicious Automatic Feminized) and I'm after a little advice to see how my grow is going. I personally think it's stretching a little.

It's in a 12L pot (decided to grow in my final pot), this is a Root Nurse pot. Soil is normal compost with no additives mixed with 30% Perlite. I soaked it for a couple of hours and then the seed was planted.

I'm trying to keep the temperature above 21 degrees, humidity seems to be around 65%.

I have an 8w LED light, Blue/Purple light with two settings. (probably not the best, but keeps it not as noticeable and within a sensible price for my first grow) The light is on during the day from when I get up at 7-9am until I go to bed around 12pm most nights.

It came through the soil around day 4, and is currently at growing 4 small leaves, day 8.

I personally think it looks like it's stretching, unfortunately I can't post any photos as of yet, but it's around 6.5cm tall from soil to tip.

    All thoughts appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Subtle

I'd say you need more light/wattage you want at least around 100w
Look into 300w giant CFL lamps around £30 that will sort you out
And give you something worth having at the end of it.

I did some reading and thought the light would be suitable for this first time grow?

There's a 5w 300 LED light panel which says it's equivalent of 135w for £58, but my current light is 8w LED?

Current light instructions say the recommended distance from the top of the plant is 50cm

That would be a much better light, I have an 300W LED pulls in the same range of 141W, and it does a good job, as MC will see in October. This is a wellpar, run you some where around 56 to 64 bucks. Well worth the money.

But you're saying your one is 300W, this is confusing! The one I was looking at was 5w but produces 141w of equivalent light?

What about a 225 LED panel, power is 14w?

Edit: looking into these lights, these Mars grow lights look like the right thing, 5w with 300 LED's at '135w actual wattage' , but at £58.

With a bit more reading, the Mars 5w 300 LED Grow Light, is actually advertised as '300w' .. so, I may purchase one of these unless there's anything cheaper worth having for my first grow!

    It 'Replaces HPS/HID/MH: 150 watt'

Managed to figure out how to upload some photos, here is my seedling last night.

I have since changed my light setting from setting one to setting two, so it's now getting the full amount of light from my LED light.

If I was going to go with Mars, I would do one of there new one's, I think they are call Mars II. These are the one's that are closer to the Watt that is advertise. There making them more better and better everyday. The one I have is 60/5W which only pull 141W, but that is equilivent to a 200W HPS. So, the one you are talking about that is pulling the 300W would be equilivent to a 400W HPS. This is in terms of over all brightness, because of the difference of the Par Light that is more produce by the LED than in the HPS. JMO Good luck and happy growing.

When you get you a better light, I would bury that seedling down to the top of the leaves, then it will grow some more roots and become a little stronger.
