    Default Lamp Height

Hello all. When measuring the height of the lamp from the top of the plants do you take the measurement from the bulb or the edge of the hood.

I am going to tie a piece of string or wire from the hood at 18" to act as a guide, does this sound about right with a couple of fans blowing between the space. 600w MH

    Cheers

Depnds on ventilation and setup TB , FOr the most part i was able to get my 400w hps and 2-300w LED to within 8-6" keeping a temp of 26Deg .

Once you have you light setup , take it down to a place where your hand feels comfortable ,then keep an eye out if temps raise or hand downst feel right , the plant wont feel right either .... there no set distance so to speak .

For seedlings start at 36" then work it down a few inches every couple of days

    Lightbulb

Not really a post to help the OP, but for others who may read this. I've recently gone over to using LED lighting and noticed that I have to keep them at least 15-18 inches clear of the plant tops or the leaves start to curl in from the sides. This appears to be related to the light intesity rather than heat, temps are well inside of the HPS temps I had before changing.
