Have a read of that and use a light compost to start them in as above.
I'd also switch to old timers nutes to make things easier once feed time comes.

It's likely that your soil is too hot for the seedlings. I would go with a soil-less medium like Sunshine Mix to start them off, then transplant to your nutrient enriched soil after 2 weeks.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I've moved my light further away and the leaves aren't yellow on the new seedlings now. But the leaves are still drooping downwards. Haven't watered much and soil is just moist not wet currently. I think it might actually be the soil. I've ordered biobizz light mix with hopes that this will be better as I've now managed to kill 3 seedlings (((!! (

    Some great advice in here.

Good idea to get some new soil although light mix still has food in it which isn't required for seedlings although hopefully it is light enough to not damage them. (I've not used biobizz)

I find it best to start seedlings in little seedling pots with as light a soil as possible and once you've got roots out the bottom you should be able to move on to your final pot. It doesn't hurt to mix in a ring of seedling soil and your main soil mixed together to act as a bit of a buffer for the plant so it doesn't go straight in to the hot stuff when you transplant.

One or two 20w cool white CFL's are all that's required for seedlings light wise so as mentioned above the mars being too close won't have been helping either but you can save a few quid on electricity too.
