I need to take my res temps down a few degrees. Currently around 24 degrees max during the peak hours of the day.

With summer ever closer I may as well get it out of the way. I run either 2 dwc buckets or two nft trays depending on how I'm feeling. So we are talking a max of 50l to be cooled. The hailea 100/150 are circa £250 both seem a bit over kill but I can't find anything more suitable.

Money isn't an issue but I also want to save where I can of course. I've looked at the peltier coolers and they don't seem efficient nor well developed l.

So what do you hydro guys use?

    Ta

I use coco, I haven't enough room to run a full hydro setup Jesse Pinkman runs a Hailea though

I am just about to order the HC300A from Hailea,
but I had a good look around, and there are other chillers available on the market, mainly for cooling koi carp ponds, but the hailea units seem to be the best value units I could find.

There are some DIY systems you can make for cheaper, look in to wort chillers for beer, some of the brewing sites can help a lot with that.

    Hope this helps.

have look at JB diary he just bought one for similar situation . the one MC posted will do the job great. other alternative to spendin bucks on a chiller . start freezing lots of coke/lucozade bottles of water and when you see those temps on the rise chuck a bottle or to in the res

I had thought about the frozen bottles and I'll be honest I've not got the patience for that and I want my temps stable not fluctuating all the time.

I'm going to go for the 100l hailea chiller and even though maybe a bit overkill for my situation it'll be able to handle another bucket or two on the future of I so wish.

    Thanks chaps

I also looked at the wort chiller but by the time I'd have bought the stainless wort etc I'd have been into similar money as the chillers

ive got a hailea 100 something,it certainly works well and is definately overkill in a 30l wilma

wondering:has anyone run a chiller into/through an empty oil rad?..could it be used this way to cool a small tent down?..just musing like

Iv used a 150a and i got it for about 70 quid overall and thats with picking it up. The only down side is the noise whitch is one of the reasons i went to coco.

With that being said you may want to get a temprater controller like the stc 1000 for the hailea or a inkbird might work. Just so it doesnt come on after 1 degrees which can get annoying if you have a small res.
