Make sure you properly insulate them with tape again though to avoid bad readings and check it's calibration with something else to make sure it's still good.

You could solder a new jack on if you have a soldering iron? If not wont it be easier to buy a new sensor or claim on the warrenty?

I reported the fault to the ebay seller and the situation I was in still useing the dodgy one and they sent a replacement the next day without me returning the old one which was great service, said the did not need the dodgy one back . This is the one I am trying to repair, I have already had a replacement so this one is for free if I can repair it.
